Abstract: Provided is an image decoding method including: obtaining, from a bitstream, a syntax element regarding multiple transform selection (MTS) with respect to a current coding unit or a current transform unit included in the current coding unit; determining a horizontal transform kernel or a vertical transform kernel with respect to the current transform unit based on the obtained syntax element; obtaining a residual signal by performing inverse transformation on the current transform unit, based on the determined horizontal transform kernel or vertical transform kernel with respect to the current transform unit; and generating a reconstruction block including the current coding unit or the current transform unit based on the residual signal with respect to the current transform unit.

Abstract: In a video encoding and decoding process, provided are a method and apparatus for determining whether a slice including an adjacent pixel located at the upper-left or lower-right side of a current pixel from among adjacent pixels used for an adaptive loop filter of the current pixel is different from a slice including the current pixel, when the slice including the adjacent pixel at the upper-left or lower-right location is different from the slice including the current pixel, determining a value of the adjacent pixel located at the upper-left or lower-right side as a value of a closest pixel in a horizontal direction of the adjacent pixel located at the upper-left or lower-right side from among pixels included in the slice including the current pixel, determining an adaptive loop filter including a filter coefficient for the current pixel and the adjacent pixels based on values of the current pixel and the adjacent pixels, correcting the value of the current pixel by using the values of the adjacent pixels, by applying the adaptive loop filter to the current pixel, and encoding/decoding a current block including the current pixel.

Abstract: An image encoding/decoding method and an apparatus thereof are provided. The decoding method includes: determining a coding unit by splitting an image; determining a transform unit in the coding unit; determining whether to decode residual data of the transform unit according to a transform skip mode; obtaining a significant subgroup flag about a subgroup in the transform unit; based on the significant subgroup flag indicating that the subgroup includes at least one non-zero significant coefficient and scanning information about coefficients of the subgroup, obtaining a first bin about a significant coefficient flag, a sign flag, a first flag, and a parity flag of a coefficient of a scan position; obtaining the residual data including a coefficient in the subgroup based on the base level and a remainder of an absolute value excluding the base level; and obtaining a reconstruction block of the coding unit, based on the residual data.
