摘要： In an image forming apparatus having a charging member for charging a photoconductive element in the form of a drum or a belt in contact therewith, a cleaning member cleans the surface of a charge roller contacting the photoconductive element. The cleaning member is usually spaced apart from the surface of the charge roller, but the former is caused to contact the latter only for a predetermined period of time at predetermined intervals. This frees the charge roller from excessive cleaning due to the cleaning member and, therefore, obviates defective images. The time for causing the cleaning member to contact the charge roller may be changed on the basis of the degree of contamination of the charge roller in order to cope with accidental smears brought about on the charge roller.

摘要： A photosensitive member unit of a recording apparatus including a photosensitive member in the form of an endless belt supported by a plurality of rollers which is movable for recording information from a document on a transfer-printing sheet. The photosensitive member unit further includes a tension roller displaceable with respect to one of the plurality of rollers, and tensioning means operative to move the tension roller when the photosensitive member unit is mounted to a main body of the recording apparatus to thereby tension the photosensitive member in the form of an endless belt. The photosensitive member unit is removably mountable to the recording apparatus, and when it is stored in reserve without being mounted to a recording apparatus, tension is automatically removed from the photosensitive member.

摘要： An apparatus for fixing toner images in which a radiating member is interposed between a near infrared red ray source and a path of movement of a support sheet bearing a toner image for producing far infrared rays. The radiating member is constructed with metal foils such that the foils form a large number of complicated paths for the near infrared rays from said source so that the rays are converted into heat after infinite repeated reflection. Air is sprayed through the complicated paths toward the sheet path to improve the fixing efficiency by an atmospheric heating in addition to the far infrared heating and further to prevent a combustion of the sheet in the event it is jammed.
