    摘要: An improved layered photoresponsive device comprised of a substrate, a photogenerating layer, comprised of inorganic photoconductive composition, or an organic photoconductive composition, a charge carrier transport layer in contact with the photogenerating layer, which transport layer is comprised of electrically active molecules of the formula: ##STR1## dispersed in a highly insulating and transparent organic resinous material, wherein X is selected from the group consisting of (ortho) CH.sub.3, (meta) CH.sub.3, (para) CH.sub.3, (ortho) Cl, (meta) Cl, (para) Cl; and as a top coating in contact with the charge carrier transport layer, an arylmethane of the formula: ##STR2## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are independently selected from the group consisting of alkyl groups, aryl groups, alkylaryl groups and arylalkyl groups, R.sub.3 is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, and methyl, R.sub.4 is independently selected from the group consisting of alkyl groups, alkylaryl groups, arylalkyl groups, and a disubstituted aminophenyl group, wherein the substituents are independently selected from the group consisting of alkyl, aryl, alkylaryl, and arylalkyl, as well as the use of such devices in electrostatic latent imaging systems.

The first layer comprises a photoconductive layer which is capable of photogenerating holes and injecting photogenerated holes into a contiguous charge transport layer. The charge transport layer comprises a polycarbonate resin containing from about 25 to about 75 percent by weight of one or more of a compound having a general formula: ##STR1## wherein R is selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group having from 1 to about 4 carbon atoms and chlorine in the ortho, meta or para position. This structure may be imaged in the conventional xerographic mode which usually includes charging, exposure to light and development.

    摘要: An apparatus for developing a latent image that contains a housing with a supply of a developer of carrier and toner and a coated toner donor member, which member is spaced from the surface on which a latent image Is being recorded. The apparatus also includes a means for advancing the developer material in the chamber of the housing and this means cooperates with the donor means and both means define a region wherein a substantially constant quantity of toner is deposited on the donor member. The apparatus further includes an electrode means positioned near the surface of a dielectric core roll and these electrodes are biased to detach toner from the donor member and to form a donor cloud for developing the latent image. The coated toner transport means can be comprised of a core with a coating of an oxidized polyether carbonate.

The charge transport layer while substantially non-absorbing in the spectral region of intended use is "active" in that it allows injection of photogenerated holes from the photoconductive layer, and allows these holes to be transported through the charge transport layer. This structure may be imaged in the conventional xerographic mode which usually includes charging, exposure to light and development.
