摘要: A tangible computer-readable storage device storing computer-executable program instructions that generate a user interface for displaying workflow information associated with a tissue specimen in a pathology laboratory. The program instructions may be configured to perform a method including displaying a virtual laboratory component representing a physical pathology laboratory having one or more laboratory stations for processing the tissue specimen, wherein the tissue specimen is processed by the one or more laboratory stations according to a workflow, and displaying a specimen indicator that indicates a current specimen state based on a current relationship of the tissue specimen to the workflow. The method may further include enabling a first active component associated with the virtual laboratory component, wherein the first active component is configured to receive a user selection of a laboratory station and generating a supplemental view component of the selected laboratory station in response to the user selection, wherein the supplemental view provides supplemental information on processing by the selected laboratory station of the tissue specimen.

摘要: A temperature-based real time clock calibration system and method for performing the same. The system in one embodiment includes a real time clock calibrated against a reference frequency, a temperature sensor being operative to measure a instantaneous temperature T1, and control circuitry operative to receive and sense the temperature T1. Control logic, preferably implemented in the control circuitry in one embodiment, determines when to recalibrate the real time clock against the reference frequency based on the measured temperature T1. In one embodiment, the reference frequency is generated by a main system clock. The system may be used during sleep mode or another reduced power operating mode of an electronic device.

摘要: A method for communicating with a downhole device is provided. The method includes predefining an encoding language including codes understandable to the device, the codes represented in the language as predefined value combinations of drill string rotation variables such as rotation rate or duration. The method further includes rotating a drill string at first and second rates and measuring the rotation rates downhole. The first measured rotation rate is processed downhole in combination with the second measured rotation rate to acquire a code in the language at the downhole device. Embodiments of the invention are useful, for example, for transmitting commands from the surface to a downhole device such as a directional drilling tool. Exemplary embodiments of this invention advantageously provide for quick and accurate communication with a downhole device without substantially interrupting the drilling process.

摘要: A method for communicating with a downhole tool located in a subterranean borehole is disclosed. Exemplary embodiments of the method include encoding data and/or commands in a sequence of varying drill string rotation rates and drilling fluid flow rates. The varying rotation rates and flow rates are measured downhole and processed to decode the data and/or the commands. In one exemplary embodiment, commands in the form of relative changes to current steering tool offset and tool face settings are encoded and transmitted downhole. Such commands may then be executed, for example, to change the steering tool settings and thus the direction of drilling. Exemplary embodiments of this invention advantageously provide for quick and accurate communication with a downhole tool.

摘要: Paving support apparatus is provided which includes substantially vertical strip restraining elements for defining a boundary around paving members and the like which move laterally during use. The support apparatus is disposed below local ground level during use. The vertical strip restraining elements include an inner surface facing toward the paving member for receiving substantially horizontal forces. Horizontal extension elements are provided which extend out from an outer surface of the vertical strip restraining elements in at least the lower region of the upright strip restraining elements for receiving vertical forces relative to the ground surface. Force converting or reinforcing elements are provided for converting the horizontal forces received by the vertical strip restraining elements into vertical forces against the horizontal extension elements, thereby restraining the paving members in the boundary. The horizontal extension elements extend inwardly of the boundary to underlie the paving members and accept vertical forces to thereby clamp the support apparatus and resist horizontal movement thereof. Preferred embodiments include unitary molded plastic support members exhibiting substantially planar upright member portions engageable with paving members, a substantially lower base member portion extending from both sides of the upright member portion by a substantial distance and a reinforced member portion connecting the upright member portion and the base member portion.
