A folded back portion flattening device includes a gripper and a presser. The gripper grips a sheet bundle formed into a booklet with the folded back portion protruding from the gripper. The presser presses the folded back portion of the sheet bundle gripped by the gripper, and includes pressing rollers which have pressing rotational surfaces and which are disposed along the folded back portion. The pressing rotational surfaces press the folded back portion. The pressing rollers are disposed so that the rotational pressing surface of a second pressing roller, which presses the folded back portion after the rotational pressing surface of a first pressing roller has pressed the folded back portion, presses deeper into an edge of the sheet bundle than the rotational pressing surface of the first pressing roller. At least one of the gripper and presser is movable in a direction parallel to the folded back portion.

A sheet bundle spine folded portion flattening apparatus is provided with a conveying portion which conveys the folded sheet bundle with the spine folded portion of the folded sheet bundle at a head, a sheet bundle moving device for moving it in a direction along the spine folded portion of the sheet bundle, and a pressing device for pressing the spine folded portion of the sheet bundle being moved by the sheet bundle moving device, and is adapted to press and flatten the spine folded portion of the sheet bundle being moved by the sheet bundle moving device, by the pressing device and therefore, can flatten the spine folded portion almost without stopping the movement of the sheet bundle, as compared with the conventional art, and the sheet bundle treating efficiency is enhanced.

A sheet-thickness detector device has a sheet guide with a sheet-guide surface for guiding a sheet between a magnetic field sensor and a magnetic guide element. The magnetic field sensor, having an approach-guide plane disposed upstream in a sheet conveying direction for guiding the sheet to a detection surface, comes into direct contact with the sheet. By the structure mentioned above, the thickness of a sheet is detected so as to determine sheet double feeding and the like without producing sheet jamming.

The purpose of the present invention is to provide a post-processing apparatus capable of performing conveying to and storing at a predetermined stack tray without causing sheet jamming even when a sheet having larger size than a standard size is introduced. The present invention comprises a post-processing apparatus as a processing tray on which sheets conveyed in a predetermined conveyance direction are stacked into a bundle shape, an aligning device which aligns the sheets conveyed to the processing tray, a binding device which performs a binding process on the sheets aligned by the aligning device, and a controller which controls the aligning device so that a sheet is aligned at a position being apart from the binding device by a predetermined distance when the sheet conveyed to the processing tray has a predetermined size or larger.

The present invention comprises a sheet bundle binding processing apparatus including a processing tray on which sheets are stacked, an insertion portion to which a sheet bundle is inserted, a first binding device which performs a predetermined binding process on a sheet bundle stacked on the processing tray and the predetermined binding process on a sheet bundle inserted to the insertion portion, and a second binding device which performs a binding process being different from the predetermined binding process on a sheet bundle stacked on the processing tray.

While sheets are conveyed in a piled state toward a rear-end stopper, displacement is produced between the sheets by a pair of discharge rollers. Even if adhesion occurs between the sheets during conveyance thereof, the adhesion between the sheets can be removed before the sheets come into contact with the rear-end stopper.
