摘要： A method of producing a printed product having a computer disk incorporated therein. The method includes the steps of depositing the disk onto the sheet of material, folding a first portion of the sheet over the disk and over at least a second portion of the sheet, securing the first portion to the second portion, folding a third portion of the sheet into overlapping relation with the first portion to produce a package, maintaining the third portion free from securement with the remainder of the sheet, and gathering the package with a signature to produce a book block while maintaining the third portion free from securement with the remainder of the sheet. The method further includes the step of perforating the sheet with a plurality of perforations to form a perforation line. The perforation line is formed substantially parallel to a fold line produced by the folding step, and preferably before the folding step. The gathering step includes the step of orienting the perforation line to be substantially perpendicular to the binding edge of the book block.

摘要： An apparatus for attaching an item to printed material, including a cover applicator for securing covers to signatures, a signature supplier positioned to provide at least one signature to the cover applicator, and a cover feeder positioned to feed covers in separated relation to the cover applicator. An item feeder is positioned to feed items in separated relation to the cover applicator, and an adhesive applicator is positioned to deposit adhesive between the item and the cover. In one embodiment, a first adhesive applicator applies a temporary adhesive between the item and the cover, and a second adhesive applicator deposits a second adhesive between the item and the signature. In another embodiment, a first cover feeder feeds outer covers and a second cover feeder feeds inner covers. The first adhesive applicator applies a temporary adhesive between the item and the outer cover, and the second adhesive applicator deposits a second adhesive between the item and the inner cover.

摘要： Systems and methods for providing remote approval of an image for printing are provided. One system includes a processing circuit in communication with an image capturing device that is configured to capture an image of a printed product. The processing circuit is configured to process the captured image into a processed image accurate to within a tolerance in a color space to indicate the visual appearance of one or more colors. The color space is a standardized color space, such as sRGB or CIELAB. The processing circuit is further configured to transmit the processed image to a display located remote from the image capturing device and to receive an input signal from a remote input device to allow a user to approve or reject the displayed processed image for printing on a print device.

One system includes a processing circuit configured to: determine a set of one or more locations on the printed image on the substrate to measure color values; determine a set of input tone values for the at least one ink; receive a set of measured color values corresponding to the set of locations on the printed image from a sensor; and determine a tone value increase error based on the set of measured color values and the set of input tone values. The at least one processing circuit is configured to determine the tone value increase error without requiring measured color values from an area having solid ink.

The processing circuit is configured to retrieve the data from the data source and to control the energy source to at least partially ablate the printed publication based on the data. The publication is printed by a web offset printing press as the substrate travels through a plurality of print units of the web offset printing press. The processing circuit is configured to control the energy source to ablate the printed publication in-line with its production on the print units.
