    Abstract: A method for controlling photovoltaic (PV) production and storage at a site is disclosed. The method includes monitoring a gross electric load and an actual PV output of the site over time and determining a net load at the site during a time period. The net load is then compared with a lower threshold and an upper threshold to determine a target PV output and a load of a controllable storage load such that the PV production and the controllable storage load at the site can be controlled accordingly to maximize the PV production while limiting or prohibiting feeding energy back to a utility grid.

    Abstract: An indicator device includes a housing configured to be coupled to positive and negative DC wire lines that supply power from an energy generation source to an inverter. The indicator device further includes a current sensor for measuring a current level on the positive and negative DC wire lines, and voltage sensors for measuring a first voltage across the positive and negative DC wire lines, a second voltage across the positive DC wire line and a ground terminal, and a third voltage across the negative DC wireline and the ground terminal. A circuit block compares the measured current level to one or more threshold current levels, and further compares the measured first, second and third voltages to one or more threshold voltage levels, and in response provides an output signal. A visual indicator receives the output signal from the circuit block, and in response provides a visual indication of whether voltage and current levels on the positive and negative DC wire lines are at levels that may harm humans.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for assembling and wiring photovoltaic arrays are provided. The wiring systems can include retractable wires included in photovoltaic modules that may be extended during installation of photovoltaic modules in the array to connect to wires of adjacent photovoltaic modules, which can retract into a tightened position under the array as the installation is completed. The wires may be made retractable by wire retraction mechanisms mounted to a frame of the photovoltaic module, which maintain a desired tension on the wires of the photovoltaic module. The wire retraction mechanism may include springs that urge components connected to the wire to rotate a particular direction so as to maintain tension on the wire. The wiring systems may also have wire guides to keep the wires accessible for installation and adjustment.

    Abstract: A photovoltaic (PV) mounting hardware support system having a base portion. A foot has an elongated body adapted to connect to at least one PV module frame mounting component. A latch is located between the foot and the base portion and comprising first and second flexible flanges adapted to extend into fixed connection with the top portion of base portion. A plunger having first and second extensions, the plunger is located between the latch and the base portion and moveable from a first position to a second position. In the first position of the plunger, the first and second flexible flanges of the latch are not in fixed connection with the base portion. In the second position of the plunger, the first and second extensions of the plunger respectively apply forces to the first and second flexible flanges such that the first and second flexible flanges are placed into fixed connection with the base portion.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a grid synchronizer for connecting an AC output of a power converter to the AC grid mains. In one aspect the invention provides a grid synchronizer comprising an inverter controller to control an AC output of the inverter, the controller including a receiver to receive grid data from a grid sensor location remote from said inverter. In another aspect we describe techniques for rapid removal of charge from a control terminal of a power switching device such as a MOSFET, IGBT or Thyristor using a particular driver circuit.

    Abstract: Embodiments disclose an energy generation system including a photovoltaic (PV) array including a plurality of PV modules for generating direct current (DC) power, a plurality of power converter pairs coupled to the plurality of PV modules and configured to convert the generated DC power to alternating current (AC) power, and a plurality of battery packs coupled to the plurality of power converter pairs. Each power converter pair of the plurality of power converter pairs includes a DC-to-DC converter coupled to a DC-to-AC inverter, where the DC-to-DC converter is directly coupled to a respective PV module. Furthermore, each battery pack is directly coupled to a respective DC-to-DC converter and configured to store DC power from the respective PV module and output stored DC power to the respective power converter pair.
