The trapping device includes a combustion device that includes an inlet port for receiving the combustible fuel, a turbulence reducing structure for substantially laminating flow of a mixture of the combustible fuel and air, a catalyst element disposed downstream of the turbulence reducing structure, a heat zone having a hollow interior space in between the turbulence reducing structure and the catalyst element to enable the combustible fuel to flow into the heat zone for continuous combustion therein to create an exhaust gas comprising carbon dioxide, and a plurality of heat exchanger fins extending inwardly into the hollow interior space of the heat zone for conducting heat generated by the continuous combustion.

    摘要: An apparatus for collecting insects, kitchen waste, dust or similar waste material, comprising a holding frame (1) in which a collecting bag (4) is received which has a cord (8), such that the bag can be closed by pulling the cord. An opening is provided in the frame, to lead the cord out towards the outside of the frame. The outside of the free edge area of the bag is fastened to the inside of the holding frame by means of at least one fastening device (13, 14), such that the fastening can be detached by pulling together the free edge of the bag while pulling the cord section led out of the same. The invention further relates to a collecting bag (4) which is provided with a cord (8) for pulling together the bag opening and with a fastening device (13, 14) for fastening in the frame (1).

An insect trap or other automated monitoring device is positioned in a test environment and operated in a manner so as to mimic some human attribute (e.g. by dispensing carbon dioxide). Trap/monitoring results in the presence and absence of the operating product are obtained in order to judge relative effectiveness of the active. Further, the real time evaluation of insect populations permits evaluation of time needed to achieve base effectiveness and length of time that effectiveness can be sustained.

    摘要: The invention is directed to an insect collection and viewing device comprising a negative air pressure generating assembly including a motor and a fan driven by the motor and a suitably shaped collection nozzle. A viewing chamber is coupled intermediate the collection nozzle and the negative air pressure assembly. The viewing chamber is tubular in shape and has an air permeable-insect impermeable screen at the downstream opening thereof and a movable valve/lens at the upstream opening thereof. When the valve/lens is open an air flow is established through the device. The air flow path is from the nozzle through the viewing chamber into and out of the assembly. In operation insects of interest are captured by sucking the insect into the device through the nozzle, then through the open valve/lens into the viewing chamber where it is captured between the screen and the closed valve. By making the valve in the shape of a transparent lens the trapped insect may be inspected through the magnifying lens.

    摘要: In an insect lure and trap, a system for generating a carbon dioxide attractant has a combustion chamber in which carbon dioxide is generated by means of an exothermic reaction from a gaseous fuel rich in carbon. A container contains a pressurized supply of said fuel and a supply line connects said container to said combustion chamber. A normally closed valve is included in said supply line. The system includes means for sensing the temperature in said combustion chamber and for generating a control signal representative of said temperature. A controller responsive to said control signal compares said temperature to a reference temperature and opens said valve during selected segments of successive equal time intervals.

The system can be adapted for use in almost any environment (homes, businesses, factories, farms, outdoors, etc.) The system employs no poisonous sprays or powders which might be environmentally harmful and poses no danger to domestic pets or farm animals. A preferred embodiment of the present invention includes a conduit arrangement having multiple inlets opening to the ambient environment. A timer controlled vacuum motor or fan periodically induces air flow through the conduit system which will draw pests into the system. The conduit has an outlet connected to a small gas-fired furnace. The pests are injected into the furnace to be cremated. The furnace is equipped with an ash clean-out door for removal of the cremated residue, which residue may safely be disposed of.

    摘要: A flying insect trapping device configured to be used with a fuel supply containing combustible fuel. The device may include a supporting frame; an insect trap chamber carried on the supporting frame; and a combustion device which may also be carried on the supporting frame. The combustion device comprises an inlet port for connection with the fuel supply, an exhaust port, and a combustion chamber communicating the inlet port with the exhaust port. The inlet port enables the fuel from the fuel supply to flow into the combustion chamber for continuous combustion therein to create an exhaust gas within the combustion chamber. The combustion device further includes a catalyst element disposed within the combustion chamber. The catalyst element has a catalyst body with a plurality of essentially linear elongated conduits for enabling the exhaust gas created in the combustion chamber to flow therethrough towards the exhaust port. The catalyst body includes a catalytically active material that, during operation, converts carbon monoxide in the exhaust gas to carbon dioxide as the exhaust gas flows through the elongated conduits. An insect inlet is communicated with the insect trap chamber to enable flying insects to enter the trap chamber through the insect inlet. A vacuum device communicated to the insect inlet is constructed and arranged to draw insects attracted to the exhaust outlet through the insect inlet and into the insect trap chamber.
