    摘要: This invention relates to centrifugal separators but more particularly to a solid bowl centrifugal separator for separating a coarse solids fraction, a fine solids fraction and one or two liquid fractions having different specific gravities from feed comprising a liquid-solids mixture. The present invention relates to a solid bowl centrifugal separator which comprises an elongated bowl tapered at both ends and mounted for rotation about an axis. Coaxially mounted within the bowl is a helical screw conveyor having portions of opposite pitch to transport each of the two solids fractions towards their respective discharge ports located in the tapered ends of the bowl. Means are also provided for the discharge from the bowl of two liquid fractions of differing specific gravity. Each of the fractions is discharged into separate segments in the collector casing. More efficient separation is accomplished and efficient separation may be achieved in a single centrifuging step where heretofore two or more consecutive centrifuging operations were required.

    摘要: The bowl of centrifuge is essentially a hollow case with openings for the outflow of the liquid clarified at one end and with openings for discharging the cake at the opposite end. Disposed in the case coaxially with same is a scroll with a quill, the slurry to be centrifuged being fed into the bore of said quill at one of the end faces. Disposed in the bore of the scroll quill close to the openings for the outflow of the liquid clarified is a stack of separating discs each given the shape of a truncated cone and separated one from another by spacers so that clearances are provided therebetween. The discs are pierced with holes, placing all the clearances in communication one with another and with the bore of the scroll quill so that the slurry centrifuged can enter the clearances. Fitted in the bore of the scroll quill within the portion occupied by the stack of the separating discs are radial projections which interact with the outer edges of the discs so as to keep same coaxially with the scroll quill. The wall of the scroll quill is pierced all the way down its length with holes which place the bore of the scroll quill in communication with the space inside the case so that the cake can be discharged thereinto, said holes being provided within the portion of the quill occupied by the stack of the separating discs between all the radial projections.

    摘要: A screw conveyor centrifuge of the type having a hollow cylindrical and/or conical shaped bowl or shell and a conveyor screw extending through the bowl. The bowl and the screw are both rotatable, but at different rotative velocities. A solid-liquid mixture is fed into one end of the conveyor and the solid portion thereof is transferred away from the opposite end after being separated out of the liquid as it is conveyed along the centrifugally rotating bowl by the screw. The liquid portion of the mixture is conducted away from a receiving point intermediate the ends of the conveyor by way of fluid drain structure disposed immediately adjacent the outside surface of the hub of the screw means. In several embodiments, the fluid drain structure consists of pipes extending axially from the receiving point through holes in portions of the flights of the screw to a drain chamber disposed immediately adjacent the beginning end of the conveyor screw. These pipes are detachably mounted and interchangeable with pipes of varying cross-section and lengths. Also, the radial position of the pipes may be changed to adapt to varying liquid levels in the bowl. Other embodiments use a multiple helix screw with alternate channels serving as the fluid drain structure. The flights intermediate the alternate channels may be interrupted at their rims or have apertures therethrough in the area of the receiving point.

    摘要: A decanter centrifuge having a screw conveyor within an imperforate bowl is provided with an annular baffle carried by the screw conveyor. Light phase material and heavy phase material is separated from a mixture thereof fed to the centrifuge bowl. The heavy phase discharge port, usually in a tapered portion of the bowl, is preferably at a greater radial distance from the rotational axis than the inner surface of the light phase material. The periphery of the baffle is closely spaced from the bowl in order to form a restricted passageway for the underflow of heavy phase material from a separating zone within the cylindrical portion of the bowl to a heavy phase discharge zone within the tapered portion of the bowl. Pressure from the materials within the separating zone, or from an independent source, is transmitted through the restricted passageway and applied to the heavy phase material undergoing discharge, thus facilitating its discharge with minimum content of light phase material. With a conical baffle, incoming feed is directed into the inwardly facing surface of the baffle and accelerated in order to minimize turbulence in the separating zone. Efficient separation is accomplished, even with materials heretofore considered unsuited for separation by a decanter centrifuge.
