摘要:
A workpiece support for use in setting up a workpiece in a vise on a machine tool. Blocks are each attachable to a jaw of the machine tool vise and each block defines multiple series of arcuately spaced bores which receive pins which, in turn, support a workpiece angle support member. The member has multiple, workpiece supporting edges inclined to one another. Insertable pins permit re-orienting of the single support member to provide desired inclination of the workpiece. A parallel work support member also has multiple workpiece supporting edges with insertable pins permitting installation of the parallel work support member at different vertical distances from a datum plane such as that containing the lower edge of the vise attached block. Use of vee blocks, both horizontal and upright, permits clamping of round stock for machining. A link between spaced apart blocks of the workpiece holder facilitates machining on a C.N.C. machine.

A pair of slide plates are vertically displaceably fixed to the opposed front surfaces of a fixed jaw and a movable jaw constituting a vice. An arbitrary number of presser members for pressing a work are fixed on the upper surfaces of the fixed jaw and the movable jaw. The work is placed on upper ends of the slide plates adjusted in height, and a pressure from setscrews of the presser members is applied to the upper surface of the work. Accordingly, even when the work is a thin plate-shaped work, it can be stably held to prevent possible vertical curving of the work.

A machine tool vise is provided with a set of soft jaws. The soft jaws attach inside and against two master jaws. Both jaws of the vice are equipped with an alignment mechanism to position the soft jaws to assure repositioning. Each jaw is provided with a lenthwise slot which provides a registration face at right angles to an upright registration face at the master jaw. The soft jaw is provided with a bracket that registers on the two faces just mentioned to obtain precise repositioning in two dimensions. Positioning in the third dimension is accomplished by use of a registration pin joining the soft jaw to the master jaw, and a tapered set screw threading into a chamfered opening is used along with the pin to accomplish clamping, thereby assuring complete registration of the bracket holding the soft jaw in the vice. The soft jaws can be mounted, removed and later returned with assurances that the soft jaws are held at a fixed location with respect to the cutter and spindle supporting the cutter. This overcomes errors in and assures parallelism between the cutter and the work piece ultimately supported in the soft jaws.

A tool which is adapted to orient a work piece for machining. A first embodiment of the tool is adapted to be removably mounted on the fixed jaw of a pair of relatively shiftable jaws of a machine vise. The tool has an arm pivotally mounted thereon, and the arm has a surface for supporting and orienting a work piece relative to the jaws. A curved slot in the tool for receiving a locking device carried by the arm, whereby the arm can be moved into any one of a plurality of infinitely variable positions with the aid of a protractor to support a work piece when the work piece is between the jaws. Holes formed into the arm receive a pin for supporting the work piece. Other embodiments are a tool for orienting the compound of a lathe.

A quick-change vise including a T-shaped clamp extending from within a jaw member which engages a T-shaped channel in a jaw blank to releasably secure the jaw blank to the jaw member. The jaw blank may be provided with a parallel bar or angle parallel to provided horizontal or angled supporting surfaces to a workpiece held in the vise. The jaw blank may be positioned in reversible positions on the clamp. Additionally, the jaw blank may be made of an extrudable metal such as aluminum.

A jaw jig tool for quick precision alignment and attachment to the jaw of a machine vise comprising a first elongated jaw member having a finished surface for mating against and over the jaw of a machine vise and a fastener for engaging the jaw of a machine vise to hold the jaw jig tool on the jaw of the machine vise. The elongated jaw member includes a finished bottom surface for aligning with a finished surface on the machine vise and pivot holes for pivotally mounting a work guide having a pivot pin for pivotally mounting in the pivot hole in the elongated jaw member and a face with a graduated scale to permit an operator to set the angle of the work guide and a fastener for securing said work guide at the proper angle on the elongated jaw member.

The present invention relates to standardizing the manufacture above-the-knee (AK) and below-the-knee (BK) prosthetic sockets and attached hardware using specially designs alignment jigs that can record position of components, with micro-encoders embedded in the jig, to quantify various degrees of freedom (rotations and translations) during integration of a temporary check socket or prosthesis. These records, together with a digital record of the shape of the truncated limb, in the form of a CAD file, can provide a complete digital record or “prescription” of the prosthesis. The digital record is then transferable to a central fabrication facility which uses a jig augmented with motors, drives systems, and encoders to robotically position and align fixtures and clamps to streamline integration and production of the prosthesis in a standardized manner.
