摘要： An arrangement of a carrier plate and vise stop which provide an abutment against which a workpiece rests laterally when being milled. The carrier plate affixes to a rear portion of a fixed jaw of a milling machine, the carrier plate having a forward recess for receiving the rear portion of the fixed jaw which nestles into the recess as the recess is dimensioned for receiving at least three sides of the fixed jaw. The carrier plate includes a plurality of locator chambers sized for receiving dowel pins of a vise stop, whereby adjacent locator chambers are spaced at a constant distance apart from one another. The interlocking of the dowels of the vise stop and the carrier plate may occur at varied lateral locations between the sides of the milling machine. A nose of the vise stop extends into the work area of the milling machine, providing the abutment.

An exemplary jaw plate may be installed in a workholding device, such as a vise, which may be used to hold a workpiece proximate a machine tool. An exemplary jaw plate includes a plurality of pins at predetermined locations along the jaw plate's front face. The pins may be individually selectively extended or retracted by an operator. In their extended positions, the pins may assist the operator in locating the workpiece relative to the machine tool in a correct and repeatable position.

摘要： A vise for holding more than one work piece on the support surface of a machine tool has a base for mounting on the support surface. More than one stationary jaws are fastened to the base. More than one movable jaws are slidably mounted on the base to move toward and away from the stationary jaws to securely hold at least one work piece between each pair of a stationary and a movable jaw. Movement of the each movable jaw is provided by a first mechanism that closes on the work piece snugly to accommodate minor variations in work piece dimensions. A second movement mechanism moves all of the movable jaws with great force including a spring bias to tightly clamp all of the work pieces at once with enough force to enable machine operations on the work pieces with no chance of their moving from the machining operations.

摘要： A vise stop for positioning a workpiece in a vise includes a crossbar having a first end, a second end and a mounting surface. The crossbar is attachable to the vise and a first stop arm is pivotally connected to the crossbar first end for positioning a workpiece along an X axis. In the preferred embodiment of the invention, a second stop arm is pivotally connected to the crossbar second end. A friction disc is compressively disposed between an inner face of both the first and second stop arms and the first and second ends of the crossbar. The friction disc allows the stop arm to be frictionally positionable and rotatable about its point of attachment to the crossbar end. The friction disc may be configured as a fiber washer, a spring washer or a compressible o-ring.
