    摘要: The present invention provides a novel structure of a tape cartridge accommodating a printing tape and an ink ribbon used for printing, which prevents the printing tape from being stuck in a cartridge case or the ink ribbon from being slackened. The tape cartridge of the invention has a mechanism for preventing an end of the tape from being reversely moved back into the cartridge case. A typical structure of the mechanism includes an anti-inversion system which prevents a tape core having a tape wound thereon from rotating in a reverse direction, that is, a direction opposite to a normal rotating direction for printing. The anti-inversion effects are removed when the tape cartridge is set in a printing device such as a tape writer to ensure smooth feeding of the tape for printing. When the tape is forcibly pressed back into the cartridge case, a movable platen clamps the tape between the platen and a fixed wall to prevent reverse movement of the tape. The tape cartridge of the invention also includes an anti-slack mechanism for preventing slack of the ink ribbon through engagement of a ribbon winding core with an anti-rotational engagement piece. Engagement of this anti-slack mechanism is also released when the tape cartridge is set in the printing device.

The resilience member has one end fixedly mounted to the reel bracket and the other end having a protruded bent portion. The reel hub has a support hole for receiving the other end of the resilience member. To the reel bracket is mounted a stopper which is adapted to selectively engage with the protruded bent portion of the other end of the resilience member, for limiting the torsion of the resilience member and thus maintaining a tension of a predetermined level at the resilience member.

    摘要: A combination of a thermal printer and an invertible ribbon cassette has a mechanism for preventing a portion of the inked ribbon extending between a supply core and a take-up core of the ribbon cassette from shifting in the direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the inked ribbon with respect to a printing head. The mechanism includes a substantially planar surface of a platen, and a printing head is urged against the planar surface of the platen through the inked ribbon portion and a sheet to which solid ink in the area on the inked ribbon portion is transferred by the printing head. The width of that area on the inked ribbon portion in the widthwise direction of the inked ribbon is at most equal to a half of the width of the inked ribbon. Alternatively, the mechanism includes a detector mechanism operative in response to the variation in diameter of the inked ribbon wound on the supply core for applying a variable back tension in the reverse direction to the tension acting on the inked ribbon portion by the take-up core.

    摘要: A printer with an improved ribbon guide mechanism. A pair of ribbon guides is mounted via fixing members, one being on each of both sides of a printing head, so as to be positioned in the path of a print ribbon. Thus the ribbon guides are movable together with the printing head to an operating position and a rest position. Leaf springs are provided to press the ribbon at all times against the ribbon guides on either side of the printing head. This allows the length of a portion of the print ribbon moving through between the guides on either side of the printing head to be maintained substantially constant, whether the printing head is at its operating position or at its rest position, thereby preventing the occurrence of slackness in the ribbon.

    摘要: An endless ribbon follows a path around a U-shaped guide member and is driven by a drive roller which is in contact with an inking roller. The inked ribbon has a loose or slack portion in the area immediately downstream of the drive roller but the ribbon is taut or tensioned across the open end of the guide member and upstream of the drive roller. The guide member has a ribbed tracking surface with spaced flanges for maintaining the ribbon in a precise path past a printing station. The loose or slack portion of the inked ribbon enables the ribbon to adhere to or track on the ribbed surfaces and also allows the ribbon to gravitate to a flange portion of the guide member.

    摘要: An apparatus for equalizing the tension of a ribbon in a cassette having an exit area and an entrance area between which a first portion of the ribbon is exposed. The apparatus includes a frame for mounting the cassette thereon and a clamp for clamping the first portion to prevent the ribbon from being pulled out of the entrance area. Fingers are employed to grasp the ribbon and pull out a length of the ribbon from the exit area of the cassette, and the internal drive mechanism of the cassette is used to return the length of ribbon back into the cassette through the entrance area upon the release of the clamp. The apparatus is automatically operated for controlling the number of cycles of pulling out the ribbon and returning it to the cassette.
