摘要： A thermal printer has a dye donor supply spool with a body and first and second end portions extending from the body. First and second receptacles are positioned for matingly receiving the first and second end portions of the dye donor supply spool. The supply spool is correctly loaded only when the first and second end portions of the supply spool matingly engage the first and second receptacles, respectively. A mechanical stop prevents incorrect end for end loading of a supply spool that has an off center web wound thereon by engaging the web and preventing the end of the spool from engaging the receptacle.

摘要： An imaging system comprising a source of light movable with respect to a writing element and projectable thereon to generate an image, a focusing means is provided for focusing a light source which generates a first beam of light of a wavelength selected to be actinic with respect to the writing element. At least a portion of the first beam of light is absorbed by the writing element. The apparatus comprises means to automatically supply donor sheets and receiver sheets independently to a writing platen or drum, and to selectively load and unload the donor sheets from superposition with the receiver sheet without disturbing the registration of the receiver sheet. A method of squeegeeing the donor sheet into contact with the receiver sheet, including moving the squeegee member in opposite directions, is provided to assure air removal from between the sheets.

摘要： An ink film tension device for applying a tension to an ink film used in a color video printer comprising a fixed shaft fixedly mounted to a reel bracket, a resilience member rotatably mounted to the fixed shaft, a reel body rotatably mounted to the fixed shaft and operatively connected to the ink film, and a felt interposed between the reel hub and the reel body and adapted to operatively connect the reel body to the reel hub. The resilience member has one end fixedly mounted to the reel bracket and the other end having a protruded bent portion. The reel hub has a support hole for receiving the other end of the resilience member. To the reel bracket is mounted a stopper which is adapted to selectively engage with the protruded bent portion of the other end of the resilience member, for limiting the torsion of the resilience member and thus maintaining a tension of a predetermined level at the resilience member.

摘要： A thermal transfer printer has a platen and a thermal head between which are pinched a transfer paper sheet and an ink film, so that the ink is transferred from the ink film to the transfer paper sheet as heat is applied to the transfer paper sheet by the thermal head. The film is supplied by a supply roll and is taken-up by a take-up roll. The thermal head is swingable between a position where it contracts the platen and a position away from the platen. When the thermal head is in the position away from the platen, the distance therebetween is greater than the maximum diameter of the supply roll. A film drum can hold a plurality of films each being constituted by the supply roll and the take-up roll. Swing arms are provided for demounting the supply roll of a selected film from the film drum and for bringing the same to a position away from the film drum, and also for returning the same from this position to the film drum. During the movement of the supply roll between the position in the film drum and the position away from this position, the thermal head is moved away from the platen so as not to hinder the movement of the supply roll.

摘要： A ribbon cartridge for a thermal transfer printer is configured to provide a retractable feed for a donor ribbon. The ribbon cartridge includes a housing, a roll of donor ribbon wound on a core within the housing, and a clutch operatively coupled to the core. A resilient structure is coupled to the clutch and to the cartridge housing such that the release of energy stored in the resilient structure by advance of the donor ribbon produces retraction of ribbon slack, if the donor ribbon is released or backfed. Alternatively, a ribbon roll having a self-contained clutching and slack take-up capability includes a hollow core configured to receive a roll of ribbon and a clutch having a friction component configured to induce frictional engagement with the core. At least one end of the clutch is adapted to be externally constrained, and a resilient component is located between the friction component and at least one end of the clutch.
