摘要: One embodiment of the present invention includes a technique of performing a catalytic oxidation reaction at an anode to provide hydrogen ions from molecular hydrogen and a catalytic reduction reaction at a cathode to provide hydroxyl ions from liquid hydrogen peroxide. Passage the molecular hydrogen to a reaction region is impeded with a proton exchange membrane and passage of the hydrogen peroxide to the reaction region is impeded with an ion-selective arrangement. Electric potential is generated between the anode and the cathode to provide electric power from a reaction of the hydrogen ions and the hydroxyl ions in the reaction region. In one variation, a regeneration technique is also provided.

摘要: A marine vehicle propulsion system is provided that combines a fuel cell electrical source for an AC propulsion motor for a marine vessel with an electrolyzer and a DC-AC converter. The fuel cell provides power for the AC propulsion motor. When the fuel cell is depleted, the DC-AC converter is disconnected from the AC propulsion motor and is reconnected to an AC power source from a host ship, and the power electronic DC-AC converter is disconnected from the fuel cell and reconnected to the electrolyzer. The fuel cell is replenished by operating the electrolyzer device that runs using DC power from the host ship to separate water into hydrogen gas and oxygen gas. The power electronic drive is operated in reverse to power the electrolyzer from the host ship.

摘要: A method as well as a device are provided for determining the residual travel duration of a submarine, with which firstly for at least one certain travel situation a reference journey is carried out with which the power consumption of the submarine is detected as stored as a dependent-dependent consumption profile. Later, for the same travel situation, the residual travel duration or a residual capacity of a battery given a predefined travel duration is determined on the basis of the stored consumption profile and the current battery data.

摘要: A jet propulsion system for a submersible vehicle, such as a submarine includes a propulsion unit mounted away from the stern of the submersible. Generally, the propulsion system consists of a set of blades secured to a hub within a shroud. Combining such a propulsion system with a surface texture treatment greatly reduces overall drag while improving the submersible's efficiency. Further, such an arrangement contributes to the submersibles stealthy characteristics. An additional hub and set of high-speed blades capable of generating a supercavity may be added to achieve supercavitation. The propulsion system can be varied to include a pumpjet and/or a centrifugal force blade system.

The watercraft has at least one interior shell or ballaster for stabilizing the vehicle during a submerged mode. The weight of a user is used in combination with the weight of the vehicle to simultaneously semi-submerge the vehicle or alternatively prime the motors. A dual in-line motor system is used for providing propulsion and is electrically connected to a throttle hand control unit with illumination switches disposed adjacent thereto for speed control and night illumination respectively. The hand control(s) provide at least one of rotatable and angular control of the water craft as well. A processing unit is optionally provided for digital readouts of time, pressure and voltage readings, including an on/off control switch for activating and deactivating the watercraft.

摘要: A muffler is described for use in connection with an exhaust passage in a ongated shaft rotating about a longitudinal axis. The shaft exhausts exhaust material generated by an internal or external combustion engine, having both a gaseous and a liquid material. The muffler includes a series of partitions situated transverse to the longitudinal axis of the shaft, each partition defining a central aperture to facilitate passage of gaseous material from an input end of the exhaust shaft to an output end of the exhaust shaft, and at least one exterior aperture proximate the sidewall of the exhaust passage to facilitate passage of liquid material from the input end to the output end. The central and exterior passages tend to separate the gaseous and liquid material in the exhaust. The series of partitions define chambers which attenuates the sound energy in the exhaust. A check valve may be provided at the exhaust's output end to reduce back flow of fluid from the exterior of the exhaust back into the exhaust shaft.

摘要: A propulsion system for a submerged vehicle which operates at a relatively low RPM includes a pair of coaxial drive shafts for producing counterrotating torques. A first propeller unit is attached for rotation with one of the drive shafts and a second propeller units is attached for rotation with the other drive shaft. Each propeller unit includes a plurality of arcuate propeller blades which are deployed upon rotation of their respective drive shaft. Specifically, this deployment is from a first configuration wherein the blades are disposed along the surface of the vehicle and into a second configuration wherein the blades are extended from the surface of the vehicle.
