摘要: A rail fastener includes a rail plate, a layer of elastomeric material between the plate and a support structure, and a pair of posts for laterally and longitudinally restraining the rail plate, with elastomeric material mounted between the posts and cooperating surfaces of the rail plate. The rail plate, the layer of elastomeric material, and the support structure on which it is mounted form a shear pad. The posts are partially embedded in the support structure and extend through respective openings in the rail plate, the inner peripheries of which are covered with elastomeric material, to provide lateral and longitudinal restraint to the rail plate. Each of these posts is preferably formed of two parts, one of which is embedded in the support structure, and the other of which is an eccentric which is releasably attached thereto. Rotation of the eccentrics provides lateral and longitudinal adjustment of the rail plate with respect to the support structures, thereby providing lateral adjustment of the rail with respect to the support structure. The elastomeric material is preferably polyurethane having a relatively high resistance to abrasion and a known, predictable and well defined coefficient of friction. The posts are of a size which eliminates the possibility of any movement thereof under any expected lateral shear loads which may be imposed on the rail plate.

摘要: A pad for interposition between the bottom of a railway rail and a rail foundation upon which the rail stands is a single piece of elastomeric material in the form of a substantially rectangular sheet with substantially rectangular cut-outs at the center of two opposite sides and chamfering of at least the upper major face at the other two opposite sides. In a rail and fastening assembly projections which extend upwardly from the rail foundation, and are engaged by means holding the rail down, lie partly in the cut-outs and impede movement of the pad along the rail.

摘要: A railway rail pad (1), for use beneath a railway rail in a rail fastening assembly as cushioning and/or electrical insulation, has first and second major faces (2, 3), the first face (2) having a rail seat portion (20) on which a foot of a railway rail sits when the pad (1) is in use, and side members (4A, 4B) attached to and extending from two opposite edges of the first face (2) of the pad (1). The side members (4A, 4B) are arranged so as to be located on respective opposite sides of the railway rail when the pad (1) is in use such that the rail seat portion (20) of the pad (1) lies between respective inwardly-facing wall faces (41A, 41B) of the said side members (4A, 4B). When the pad (1) is not under load and is placed so as to rest on a surface with the first face (2) of the pad (1) uppermost and part of the surface lying beneath the rail seat portion of the pad, an inclination angle (α1, α2) between the wall face (41A, 41B) of each side member (4A, 4B) and that part of the surface beneath the rail seat portion on which the pad (1) is resting is greater than 90°. When the pad is not under load, the first face is substantially convex in a vertical plane that is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the rail when the pad is in use.

摘要: In a railway rail pad having a rail seat portion for receiving a foot of a railway rail, the rail seat portion is provided on at least one major face thereof with a plurality of protrusions which are unevenly distributed across the face of the rail seat portion such that the ratio of the area of the face occupied by the protrusions to the area of the face free of protrusions is greater in an edge region of the rail seat portion than in a central region of the rail seat portion, the edge region being adjacent to one edge of the pad and the central region being adjacent to the edge region. The studs are arranged in columns, each stud being of substantially the same size, and the number of studs in a column in the central region which is closest to said edge region being greater than in a column closer to the centre of the rail seat portion. The studs are also arranged in rows, wherein the ratio of protrusions to free area in a row of studs adjacent to, but spaced from, the centre of the rail seat portion is greater than that in a row further from the centre.

摘要: A shoulder for use in retaining a railway rail fastening clip, comprising two interconnected spaced-apart walls, between which a portion of the clip to be retained is held when the shoulder is in use, and clip-engaging means, supported by the walls, for engaging a portion of the clip to be retained, does not have any feature or surface which engages the surface of that clip portion which faces downwardly when the clip is in use. Alternatively, or in addition, none of the contact regions, at which the device engages the rail clip, can be seen when the anchoring device is viewed from above when in its operative orientation and all of the contact regions can be seen when the anchoring device is viewed from below when in the operative orientation. Alternatively, or in addition, all the contact regions lie substantially at the same horizontal distance from the edge of the rail foot when measured perpendicularly to the axis of the rail and in the plane of the rail foot.
