Abstract:
A hinge assembly (20) including a first magnetic member (21) and a second magnetic member (22) is described. The polarities of opposing end surfaces of the first magnetic member and the second member are different. The second magnetic member is configured for rotating relative to the first magnetic member to generate a magnetic moment. In addition, an exemplary portable electronic device (100) equipped with the hinge assembly is also described.
Abstract:
A hinge for furniture comprises a first part to be fastened to a first furniture element and a second part to be fastened to a second furniture element, said first and second hinge parts being rotatably in engagement with each other, a shock absorber being present which comprises a body fastened to the first hinge part and a shock absorbing member movably mounted on said body, the shock absorbing member being adapted to restrain movement of the second hinge part in a closing step of the hinge. Said shock absorbing member and second hinge part having portions magnetically attracting each other to carry out dragging along of the shock absorbing member relative to the body during a reopening step of the hinge, bringing said member back to position for subsequent cushioning of the closing movement of the hinge.
Abstract:
Two or more panels of a power-operated folding door are supported by a novel articulated arm assembly that ensures that the door closes tightly against a wall-mounted seal and easily opens. The articulated arm assembly includes a connector with two spaced-apart pivot points about which two adjoining arms of the assembly can rotate as the door opens and closes. The two pivot points allow the panels to readily fold up and store more compactly when the door is open. To provide an airtight seal where two leading panels come together at the center of the doorway, one or more control mechanisms coupled to the articulated arm assembly ensure that the leading panels overlap when the door is closed.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a gate or door drive housing with a basic carrier body for preference in the shape of a bowl or shell, to which various different drive components can be secured, and a cover hood which can be connected to the basic carrier body. According to the invention, a housing extension for accommodating additional and/or larger drive components can be connected in a releasable manner in an exact fit to the basic carrying body.
Abstract:
A new and useful frictionless suspension structure is provided, that can be used with structures such as axles, hinges and other similar types of structures (especially structures where one member rotates relative the other member) can produce various attractive features such as significant energy savings, preserving component life, etc. A frictionless suspension structure comprises a first member with at least one magnet connected thereto and a second member with at least one magnet connected thereto. The magnets connected with the first and second members are configured and oriented with respect to each other to (i) establish respective magnetic fields that interact to suspend one of the members from the other member in a predetermined self centered orientation without physical contact between the members, and (ii) maintain the one of the members suspended from the other member in the predetermined self centered orientation without physical contact between the members.
Abstract:
A sensor activated, automatic sliding door assembly for installation in building entrance openings for automatic opening and closing of sliding doors. The roller track, drive belt pulley, door carrier, and door guide allow adjustment to compensate for distortion of the system as a result of stress caused by use or expansion and contraction of the building. The rotatable safety hinges, one-way hinges, door stops and electrical interruptors provide integrated safety devices to the automatic door assembly. Linear sliding devices such as linear bearings provide improved movement of the sliding doors on a linear track.
Abstract:
A partition wall for wet chambers, particularly for bathrooms or stall showers with several wall panels which are slidable either with each other or with respect to each other with each wall panel suspended in an upper guide rail with sliding or roller guides and with the lower guide ledges of the panels guided in a lower closed guide member, shaped with step-like guide rails on top of each other. In a preferred form the upper suspension of each wall panel is positioned outside the line of the center of gravity of the wall panel.
Abstract:
An access door may include a core, first and second stiles defined along opposites sides of the core such that the core between the first and second stiles defines a recessed pocket with each of the first and second stiles defining a channel therein extending longitudinally along an inwardly-facing edge thereof, bottom and top elongated panels each defining tongue members at opposite sides thereof and configured to be received transversely in the recessed pocket with the tongue members received within the channels defined along the inwardly-facing edges of the first and second stiles, wherein, with the top and bottom elongated panels received in the recessed pocket, exterior faces of the first and second stiles, exterior faces of the top and bottom elongated panels, and an exposed surface of the recessed pocket between the top and bottom elongated panels define an exterior surface of one side of the door.
Abstract:
A breakaway hinge for a portable medical device, such as a cart-borne ultrasound system, enables the movement of an access door in other dimensions than the hinge access. The hinge includes a sliding magnet which attaches to a fixed magnet, and a hinge pin, all acting together to allow the door to open, to shift the door away from the hinge, and to detach the door as desired.
