摘要: A novel abnormality detection device for an air-fuel ratio sensor able to more accurately detect an abnormality, provided with an air-fuel ratio sensor arranged in an exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine for detecting an air-fuel ratio based on a current generated in accordance with a concentration of oxygen in the exhaust gas along with application of voltage and an air-fuel ratio sensor activating means for activating the air-fuel ratio sensor, wherein the activity of the air-fuel ratio sensor is maintained even after the internal combustion engine is stopped and an abnormality of the air-fuel ratio sensor is detected based on an output of the air-fuel ratio sensor upon and/or after the elapse of a first predetermined time after the internal combustion engine is stopped.

摘要: An O2-sensor fault diagnosis apparatus and method therefor, which are capable of detecting wire breaking of an O2-sensor with reliability and successively performing fault diagnosis with minimal effect on an exhaust gas. An O2-sensor 19 detects concentration of oxygen contained in an exhaust gas of an engine 1. An ECU 20 controls a quantity of fuel supplied to the engine 1 through feedback control according to an output signal of the O2-sensor. A fault diagnosis portion changes an input resistance value of an input circuit that is connected to the O2-sensor 19 and constitutes the ECU 20 each time a control condition for determining that the O2-sensor 19 is in an inactive state is satisfied, determines that wire breaking occurs in the O2-sensor 19 only if the output voltage of the O2-sensor 19 exceeds a predetermined voltage, and activates an informing portion to send a notice showing that there is a fault in the O2-sensor 19.

The interface circuit is configurable in a first respect to enable operation with any of a number of different sensors, and in a second respect to enable more reliable fault detection, including measurement of leakage to ground or battery.

摘要: A heater power supply control system is provided for controlling the temperature of a heater used to heat a solid electrolyte-made sensor element of a gas concentration sensor up to a desired activation temperature. The heater power supply control system measures a resistance value of the sensor element and controls an electric power supply to the heater using a PI control function. The heater power supply control system works to limit the value of an integral term of the PI control function in the course of activation of the sensor element, thereby avoiding overshoot of the resistance value of the sensor element, which avoids thermal damage of the sensor element.

摘要: An adsorbent deterioration determining apparatus can accurately determine a deterioration of an adsorbent in a relatively simple configuration. The adsorbent deterioration determining apparatus determines a deterioration of an adsorbent arranged in an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine for purifying exhaust gases. The adsorbent is capable of adsorbing hydrocarbons and moisture in exhaust gases. The adsorbent deterioration determining apparatus comprises a humidity sensor arranged at a location downstream of the adsorbent in the exhaust system for detecting the humidity of exhaust gases, and an ECU for determining a deterioration of the adsorbent in accordance with a detected output of the humidity sensor at the time a predetermined time has elapsed from a start of the internal combustion engine.

摘要: An apparatus for detecting a resistance of an air-fuel ratio sensor has an air-fuel ratio sensor element, a heater for activating the sensor element, an air-fuel ratio detecting device for detecting an air-fuel ratio in a detection object gas detected by the sensor element, a gas condition detecting device for detecting a gas detection of the detection-object gas, a device for detecting an impedance of the sensor element and a device for correcting the impedance of the sensor element in accordance with the gas condition. A cumulative amount of electric power supplied to the heater during a predetermined period of time is calculated. Based on the calculated cumulative amount of electric power, the impedance of the sensor element is corrected. In accordance with the cumulative amount of electric power supplied to the heater, it is determined whether the sensor element has a failure and an element temperature control target learned value is determined. A target impedance is calculated by correcting the learned value in accordance with the gas condition. Based on the calculated target value, the heater is controlled to prevent overheating of the sensor element and the heater.

摘要: An air-fuel ratio sensor generates linear air-fuel ratio detection signals proportional to concentration of oxygen in exhaust gas from an engine in response to a command voltage from a microprocessor. A bias command signal generated by the microprocessor is provided to a D/A converter which converts it to an analog signal. Thereafter, the signal is provided to an LPF for removing the high frequency components of the analog signal. Output voltage of the LPF is provided to a bias control circuit. A single AC signal which has a predetermined frequency and which is provided with a predetermined time constant (about 159 .mu.s) by the LPF is applied to the air-fuel ratio sensor. Element resistance of the air-fuel ratio sensor is detected based on the voltage of the AC signal and the change in the current level of the air-fuel ratio sensor caused by the application of the AC signal.
