    摘要: A door opening/closing mechanism fitted on a door that closes and opens an opening formed in the body of an apparatus by being brought into and out of contact with the rim of the opening has cam mechanisms that permit the door to engage with and disengage from the body at either of the right and left sides of the door. The cam mechanisms can be brought into a first lock position in which they lie symmetrically at both sides of the door and into a second lock position in which they lie symmetrically at both sides of the door, and each have a hinge pin that serves as a rotation axis in the second lock position and a groove cam that engages with the hinge pin in such a way as to be movable relative to the hinge pin. The groove cam has a slide portion on which a part of the innermost portion of the hinge pin slides when the cam mechanism is moved from the first lock position to the second lock position and of which the length in the direction of the width of the door is greater than the maximum permissible variation in the outermost distance (L) between the two groove cams formed at both sides of the door. When the door is closed, the cam mechanisms at both sides are kept in the first lock position and, when the door is opened at one side, the door slides and thereby causes the cam mechanism at the other side to be brought into the second lock position so as to be rotatably locked in the second lock position.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a door for a refrigerator, and more particularly, to a door for use in a refrigerator in which a direction of opening and/or closing the door can be selectively changed. The door of the present invention comprises an external plate 80 which defines at least a front appearance of the door; a door liner 81 which defines a rear appearance of the door and constitutes a space with an insulating layer 83 formed therein in cooperation with the external plate 80; a dispenser 74 which is installed at a front surface of the external plate 80 for dispensing water to the outside of the refrigerator; tube passages 97 and 97′ which pass through the insulating layer 83 and allow the dispenser 74 and through-holes 86 for installation of a hinge 57 located at both sides of the door to communicate with each other; a door side tube structure 72 which is installed in at least one of the tube passages 97 and 97′ and transfers water from a main body 50 of the refrigerator to the dispenser 74; and a power cable 99 which extends from the dispenser 74 to the respective through-holes 86 and through which electrical signals are transmitted between the door 56 and the main body 50 of the refrigerator. According to the present invention, there are advantages in that the door opening/closing direction can be easily changed and the external appearance of the door can be cleanly and neatly finished.

    摘要: A method for defrosting a household refrigeration appliance including a compressor and a defrost heater. After a controller indicates that it is time for a defrost cycle, the compressor is operated if the temperature of the appliance is greater than a set temperature. The compressor is stopped when a temperature of the appliance is equal to or less than the set temperature. After the step of stopping, the temperature of the appliance is raised while the defrost heater is inactivated. After the temperature is raised, the defrost heater is energized. The controller pauses for a drip time after deenergizing the defrost heater before allowing the compressor to run.
