Abstract: A linear motor for a compressor having asymmetric load characteristics in both directions of a stroke, improves the service life of a bearing, and reduces a total length of a system. The linear motor includes a movable element having a magnetic pole frame and a plurality of field element poles, and a plurality of magnetic pole teeth around which windings are wound and that are provided so as to sandwich the movable element, and the movable element and the magnetic pole teeth are relatively displaced. The plurality of field element poles include primary magnets arranged between the plurality of magnetic pole teeth and secondary magnets arranged externally relative to spaces between the plurality of magnetic pole teeth in either direction of the relative displacement. A neck part of the magnetic pole frame connected to a bearing is arranged externally in the other direction of the relative displacement direction.

Abstract: A cryogenic storage system provides automated storage and retrieval of samples in a cryogenic environment, as well as automated transfer of individual samples between cryogenic environments. Stored samples are maintained under a cryogenic temperature threshold, while also enabling access to the samples. The samples may be organized and tracked by scanning a barcode of each sample. The storage system can include multiple storage vaults and provide for transfer of individual samples between the storage vaults, as well as between a storage vault and a removable cryogenic storage device.

Abstract: An ice maker includes an upper tray and a lower tray made of an elastic material. Upper chambers in the upper tray and lower chambers in the lower tray contact each other to define spherical ice chambers, respectively. An ejector-receiving opening is opened to each of the upper chambers. An opening-defining wall extends upward along a circumference of each ejector-receiving opening. An upper ejector passes through the ejector-defining wall and vertically moves to remove ice from the ice chamber, and a driver pivots the lower tray to open and close the upper tray and the lower tray. The upper tray includes a horizontal extension forming a top face of the upper tray, and the upper chamber is positioned below the horizontal extension such that the opening-defining wall is formed at a vertical level equal to or lower than a vertical level of the opening-defining wall.
