Abstract:
A safety reflector for a jogger is disclosed with a cavity behind the reflector surface in which a hard disk, such as a coin, is placed so that as the jogger runs the disk, as it bounces, causes a flickering pattern on the reflector and sounds cadence in accordance with the gait of the jogger.
Abstract:
Coating compositions for use in making fabrics brightly retroreflective at nighttime comprise a dilute coating vehicle and transparent retroreflective microspheres dispersed in the vehicle at a low concentration. The coating on the fabric is inconspicuous in daylight and leaves the garment with substantially its normal hand, feel, and breathability.
Abstract:
A fluid composition useful to form retroreflective structures, comprising a liquid vehicle and, dispersed in said vehicle, retroreflective platelet particles that comprise flat segments cut from a larger retroreflective sheeting.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a novel cycle reflector and a cycle-caliper brake subassembly containing this novel reflector. The reflector is specially adapted for installation on a cycle having caliper braking means and comprises a first generally flat surface adapted to abut transversely against a cycle fork assembly, at least one pair of lateral support members to cooperate with the fork assembly, a second generally flat surface adapted to be in alignment substantially vertical and substantially normal to the direction of travel of the cycle in its conventional operating position, reflecting means positioned upon the second flat surface and an aperature adapted to permit passage through the reflector of a bolt or the like used to fasten the caliper brake to the cycle fork.
Abstract:
A retro-reflector includes means at least substantially to focus a substantially parallel beam of light from a source of light onto and substantially at right angles to a surface of the retroreflector when there is relative motion between said source and the retro-reflector along a line which is inclined to a straight line between said source and the retro-reflector, said surface having alternating bands of greater and lesser reflectivity to modify the reflected light repetitively during said relative motion when said at least substantially focussed beam of light traverses said bands.
Abstract:
A reflector containing a light-reflecting layer, particularly for affixation to road edge marker posts, for warning traffic of the existence of icing conditions. The reflector consists of a transparent capsular container located in front of a lightreflecting layer and filled with a liquid which extends over the surface of the layer, and which as a result of a change of state loses the transparency it possesses at higher temperatures when temperatures just above the freezing point of water prevail.
