An optical filter comprising a transparent support having provided at least on one side of the support a filter layer containing a dye and a polymer binder, wherein an antireflection layer having an antireflection property to visible light is provided on the side opposite to the side on which the filter layer is provided when the filter layer is provided on either one side, and the antireflection layer is provided on either one side when the filter layers are provided on both sides, and the transparent support comprises a biaxially stretched film having a thickness of from 10 to 500 μm.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a coating for a transparent substrate which exhibits a “neutral” color through a wide range of angles of incidence of light. The coating employs a base coat adjacent the transparent substrate having a thickness of no more than about 275 Å and may include two reflective metal layers having an intermediate layer of an anti-reflective metal oxide therebetween and an outer anti-reflective layer of metal oxide over the second reflective metal layer. If so desired, the coating of the invention may include an abrasive-resistant overcoat as its outermost layer. This overcoat is desirably formed of an abrasive-resistant metal oxide, such as zinc oxide applied at a thickness which does not significantly affect the optical properties of said coated substrate.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method of manufacturing an ND filter having a gradation density distribution, the ND filter, and an aperture device and a camera having the ND filter. A structure thereof is as follows. The method of manufacturing an ND filter having at least two kinds of films on a substrate includes the steps of: forming a film of at least one layer other than an outermost layer having a gradation density distribution while rotating a slit mask integrally with the substrate; and forming a film of the outermost layer without using the slit mask.
Abstract:
A production process of a light amount adjustment member, by which a cheap light amount adjustment member hating excellent optical properties can be simply produced is provided. A light amount adjustment device and a photographing apparatus which are cheap, have excellent optical properties and are equipped with the light amount adjustment member are provided by providing the simple production process of the light amount adjustment member. The production process comprises the step of relatively scanning an ink-jet head, from which an ink is ejected on a transparent base material, on the surface of which an ink-receiving layer has been formed, to the transparent base material to apply the ink to the ink-receiving layer, thereby forming a light amount adjustment region, wherein in the step of forming the light amount adjustment region, the ink is ejected from the ink-jet head in such a manner that the ink is applied to the whole light amount adjustment region.
Abstract:
An optical performance is deteriorated by a minute phase difference of transmission wave front of an ND filter. In a light quantity adjusting device which includes an ND filter (P1) for attenuating a quantity of light passing through an aperture formed by diaphragm blades (S11 and S12) and in which a cover ratio of the aperture by the ND filter (P1) is changed, setting is conducted such that a phase difference between lights with a predetermined wavelength null which pass through regions (N11, N12, and N13) of the ND filter (P1) with different transmittances inside the aperture becomes substantially 0null, substantially 1null, or substantially 2null in a state in which the aperture is completely covered with the ND filter (P1).
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for variable optical attenuation is disclosed. A variable optical attenuator is provided having a housing. Within the housing, a filter is mounted on a drive shaft of a motor such that the drive shaft passes through a substantially center point of the filter. The filter has a monotonically increasing filter gradient that begins at a lower optical density and gradually increases in optical density in a diametrical pattern. An input optical fiber provides a light signal to be attenuated. The input optical fiber introduces the light signal, which passes through a first collimator, through the filter, through a second collimator, and to an output optical fiber which exits the housing. When activated, the motor rotates the drive shaft to position the filter to a desired attenuation position for attenuating the light signal.
Abstract:
A system and method for increasing the number of bits available for use in a video display system that includes at least one spatial light modulator. The system uses a wheel (30) of three colors, or a color wheel that is clear, including at least one segment (34) which has a lower intensity region, referred to as a neutral density filter. Alternately, the filter could be a liquid crystal controller to control either light amplitude or color. By using a lower intensity region, the amount of time available to process the least significant bit of the data sample is lengthened, thereby eliminating the constraint on the number of bits available for display.
Abstract:
A position sensor having an opto sensor and an optical density gradient wedge photo interrupter in which the gradient wedge comprises a half tone dot pattern preferably photographically reproduced in a photosensitive medium. In a preferred embodiment, the half tone dots are formed with microdots that are cumulated to increase the density of the half tone dots. In regions of density variations where the half tone dots change shape between round and square (in both solid fill and open fill dots), a random fill pattern is employed to enhance the linearity of the sensor output signal. The beam width of the opto sensor is uncollimated and focused to cover at least three pixel widths of the half tone dot pattern where each pixel is formed of at least four half tone dot areas.
Abstract:
In an overfilled polygon ROS architecture, fast scan jitter is reduced by uniformly illuminating the overfilled facets. In one embodiment, the collimator lens is designed with a long focal length to transmit only the more uniform central portion of the Gaussian shaped intensity profile output of a laser diode. In another embodiment, the light level at the polygon facet is made uniform by introducing a variable transmission filter along the optical path.
