In the energy saving mode, a card I/F circuit section is controlled to turn ON intermittently for a predetermined interval by using a switch. The I/F circuit section supplies electric power to an outside I/F part during the ON interval, and receives some communication data from the outside. When the communication data received by the I/F circuit section is a request for a return from the energy saving mode, a return to the ordinary mode is effected. Therefore, an I/F part, such as a non-contact IC card, requiring external electric power supply can be used as a factor of a request for a return from the energy saving mode. In addition, the energy consumption for that purpose can be reduced.

Systems, methods, and user-interfaces consistent with embodiments of the present invention provide for a method for secure document scanning in a non-private environment. In some methods for secure document scanning in a non-private environment, the presence of an accessible and writeable removable media device coupled to a scanning device may be detected and the user may be presented with interfaces to configure parameters related to the scan, including scanning device related parameters, document related parameters, and removable media device related parameters. The scanned document may be saved to the removable media device if it meets criteria specified by the user, which may include verification and authentication of security mechanisms embedded in the document.

An image forming apparatus includes a controller that is operable to: access files that is created by an external device and stored in the external storage device, the files containing images that are to be formed on the sheet by the image forming unit; generate auxiliary identification information including character string that is uniquely assigned for each of the files and for each of folders containing the files by using character information stored in a storage; control at least one of the display and the image forming unit to display file specifying information including filenames of each of the files and the auxiliary identification information so as that the auxiliary identification information is displayed preferentially from the filenames; and allow a user to select a target file that contains an image to be formed on the sheet based on the file specifying information.

Input unit inputs RAW data. Print data generating unit generates print data from an image to be printed. The print data allows a print unit to print the image to be printed. Correct unit sets a color balance operation value or a luminance operation value based on the RAW data, and enforces a color balance correction corresponding to the color balance operation value or a luminance correction corresponding to the luminance operation value on the RAW data. Image generating unit generates an image as the image to be printed from the RAW data with the color balance correction or the luminance correction enforced thereon using a deimosaicking processing and a tone reproduction processing.
