摘要: Embodiments described herein provide micro-fluidic systems and devices for use in performing various diagnostic and analytical tests. According to one embodiment, the micro-fluidic device includes a sample chamber for receiving a sample, and a reaction chamber for performing a chemical reaction. A bubble jet pump is structured on the device to control delivery of a fluid from the sample chamber to the reaction chamber. The pump is fluidically coupled to one or more chambers of the device using a fluidic channel such as a capillary. A valve may be coupled to one or more chambers to control flow into and out of those chambers. Also, a sensor may be positioned in one or more of the chambers, such as the reactant chamber, for sensing a property of the fluid within the chamber as well as the presence of a chemical within the chamber.

摘要: A valveless siphon decanter for processing fluid within a tank having a siphon tube external to the tank, the siphon tube having an output, a boom extending substantially transversely from the siphon tube, the boom providing a path for the communication of fluid from within the tank into the siphon tube, a vacuum head in association with the boom, the vacuum head having at least one orifice disposable within the tank for receiving the fluid, a vacuum source for creating a vacuum within the siphon tube and the boom to draw the fluid in through the at least one orifice of the vacuum head into the boom and into the siphon tube thereafter, a vacuum break for breaking the vacuum within the boom and the siphon tube; and wherein the siphon tube and the boom are disposed outside of the tank.

摘要: A device for controlling the filling of a cistern in a main reservoir of a toilet flushing system includes a water inlet is controlled by a valve. The closing of the valve is controlled by a float that is movable from a high position to a low position. The float is contained in a float housing in the high position. The float housing connects to the main reservoir by at least one siphon having two tubes: a suction tube linked to the float housing; and a discharge tube linked to the main reservoir and opening into an auxiliary reservoir. There is a control mechanism provided with a mechanism for priming the siphon, wherein shifts between an initial position and an actuated position result in overpressure and underpressure at the tubes, overflowing the auxiliary reservoir, and the tubes, so as to drain the float housing.

摘要: A fresh water transportation system is disclosed that takes advantage of the buoyancy of fresh water in salt water to transport fresh water through a body of salt water. The fresh water flows from an above-water vessel through a down pipe supported on the sea bed, and through a curved pipe that redirects the fresh water flow upwardly. In an embodiment a gas, for example air or natural gas, is injected into the fresh water in the upwardly directed portion of the flow. An inclined compliant pipe receives the upwardly directed flow, such that the hydrostatic pressure is communicated to the fresh water, whereby the fresh water is urged through the compliant pipe.

摘要: A portable hydroelectric generator that carries its own water supply. A tube with a first opening at one end for receiving fluid from a trough and a second opening at the other end for discharging the received fluid. The tube has an inverted U shape having a side A which extends from the first opening toward the top of the inverted U and a side B which includes a turbine coupled to a generator extends from the top of the inverted U to the second end. Side A has a volume which is smaller than the volume of side B and the second opening is located above the level of the fluid in the trough. When fluid is in the tube, its weight in side B is greater than its weight in side A which causes the fluid to flow from the first opening through the tube and out of the second opening.

摘要: A fuel tank has a primary sump and secondary sump. A first vent valve and a second vent valve are disposed within the fuel tank. The first vent valve is closed when a level of fuel in the primary sump is equal to or higher than a first predetermined filling level, and the second vent valve is closed when a level of fuel in the secondary sump is equal to or higher than a second predetermined filling level in a refueling procedure.
