摘要: A disposable cartridge for preparing a sample fluid containing cells for analysis is disclosed. The cartridge includes one or more parallel preparation units, each preparation unit includes one or more chambers enclosed between seals and connected in series. Each chamber is configured for receiving an input fluid, performing a procedure affecting the fluid thereby generating an output fluid, and releasing the output fluid. A first chamber of the one or more chambers is a pressable chamber coupled to a first opening, while a last chamber of the one or more chambers is coupled to a second opening. The input fluid of the first chamber is the sample fluid. The one or more preparation units are coupleable to a compartment for performing analysis of the respective output fluids convey able via the second openings.

摘要: An automatic analyzer cartridge, spinnable about a rotational axis, has fluid and aliquoting chambers, a metering chamber connected to a vent that is nearer to the rotational axis than the metering chamber, first and second ducts connecting the fluid and aliquoting chambers, and the metering and aliquoting chambers, respectively. Metering chamber side walls taper away from a central region, wherein capillary action next to the walls is greater than in the central region. Fluid flows to the metering chamber using capillary action via the second duct that has an entrance and exit in the aliquoting and metering chambers, respectively; the exit being closer to the rotational axis than the entrance. A downstream fluidic element connects to the metering chamber via a valve. A fluidic structure receives and processes a biological sample into the processed biological sample and has a measurement structure that enables measurement of the processed biological sample.

The siphon has a siphon entrance in the aliquoting chamber and a siphon exit in the downstream fluidic element, wherein the siphon has a bend, wherein the bend is the portion of the siphon closest to the rotational axis, wherein the siphon entrance starts at the bend, wherein the siphon entrance extends to a lower portion of the aliquoting chamber. This enables multiple aliquots of fluid to be removed from the aliquoting chamber by the siphon.

摘要: This invention relates to a method and system for measuring concentrations of total recoverable metals in fluids in real time. The method employs microfluidics channels with electrically actuated valves and pumps. The method employs on board pumps to draw a fluid sample into the device. The method employs logic circuits and memory circuits with computer code that control the opening and closing of on-board valves, the turning on and off of on-board pumps, and the direction in which onboard pumps propel fluids. The method employs on-board storage of reagents and, by controlling pumps and valves, mixes reagents with a fluid sample on board the device to prepare the sample for analysis. The method employs electrochemistry with one or more active electrodes, one or more inert electrodes, and one or more reference electrodes to measure concentrations of metals in solution, pH of solution, temperature of solution, and electroconductivity of solution. The method transmits information from the device to remote servers using telecommunications protocols and transceiver devices. The method employs pattern recognition algorithms to identify the correlations between voltage or current measurements on the device and concentrations of metals in the sample in the device. The method employs one or more ultrasonic transducers connected to the microfluidic channels and electrodes used to mix samples with reagents clean the device and maintain its viability.
