The worktable is slidably mounted to the saddle. An elongated table screw is carried by the work table and extends through threaded block carried by the other saddle. A pair of jaws of the clamping device each have an acurate surface for engaging the elongated table screw. A mechanism moves the jaws relative to each other and into a closed position engaging and retaining the elongated table screw.

    摘要: A coping machine for making miter cuts on baseboard or crown molding stock includes a work platform supported on vertically movable spring assemblies. Stock to be cut is positioned on the work platform. A rotating cutting knife is disposed adjacent a rear edge of the work platform. Operation of a single lever mechanism functions to move the platform in a downward vertical direction so that the stock may be cut by the rotating cutting knife. The spring assemblies automatically return the platform to its original position when the single lever is released.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for machining the surface of a spherical segment, the surface being either convex or concave, by a circular milling cutter mounted on a milling machine and rotatably driven about an axis of rotation. The segment is carried by a fixture journally mounted for pivoting about a pivot axis passing through the spherical center of the surface to be cut, and the axis of rotation also passes through the spherical center. The teeth of the cutter lie in a plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation which is the furthest such plane that intersects the face of the cutter so that only the cutting teeth will contact the spherical surface to be formed. The fixture is pivoted about the pivot axis and the segment moves through and is cut by the rotating teeth to form the spherical surface. If the pivot axis of the fixture is on the same side of the machine as the teeth of the cutter, a convex spherical surface is formed, but if the pivot axis of the fixture is on the opposite side of the machine from the teeth of the cutter, a concave spherical surface may be formed.

    摘要: In a grinding or milling machine an improved clamping arrangement for holding one end of a tool blank having a portion with at least four sides in cross-section. The other end of the tool blank is held against a stationary holding member. The clamping arrangement includes a housing which is coaxially mounted on a drive shaft. A pair of clamping members are reciprocally mounted in the housing and are biased outwardly by means of a pair of coil springs. Each clamping member has a skewed planar surface at its free end. The skewed planar surfaces biasingly engage opposite edges of the tool blank so as to compensate for any misalignment of the tool blank with respect to the holding member and clamping arrangement.

    摘要: An improved method of and improved apparatus for removing all undesirable material projecting outwardly beyond the true round periphery of a bowling ball. There are many bowlers who desire to have the finger openings changed after they have made use of a ball for a period of time. This change in the position, size and/or relationship of finger openings is generally accomplished by plugging up one or more of the openings in the ball and then relocating or reboring openings to meet the bowler''s desire. In carrying out this process it is frequently done by filling up the original finger opening with a plug driven thereinto or by filling the same with material allowed to harden therein. In order to be sure of filling the opening completely for the modification or relocation thereof, it is common practice to overfill the same so that an excess of material will normally project outwardly beyond the true round periphery of the ball and then to remove the excess of said material to be sure the true round periphery is maintained. This disclosure relates to a most desirable method of removing such excess quickly, accurately and without disturbing the true periphery of the ball.
