Abstract:
An actuator assembly for remote actuation of control panel components in an environment that restricts human access is contemplated. The actuator assembly includes one or more remotely controllable linear drive mechanisms for imparting a rotation motion on one or more cams to remotely press a control panel component such as a button or switch. While disengaged, the cams are rotated to a position where they minimally obstruct an operator's view. The actuator assembly also allows the force and throw of actuation to be accurately controlled.
Abstract:
This invention provides a modular, efficient and self-feedback/balance, fluid-powered actuation system. This system comprises two basic modules; actuation module and positioning module, which are directly connected to each other. The actuation modules can be constructed as a triple acting actuator having a novel balanced linear-rotary mechanism converter or a double acting actuator with two novel balance guide bars. The positioning module is constructed as a two-staged, self-feedback/balance positioner with position as a variable for controlling positions of an output shaft of the actuation modules. An input shaft in the positioning module is operated by three types input signals. This system also provides a rotary force to actuate and control different rotary valves with lighter weight, superior seal and high accuracy and can be used for quick cycle, high vibration applications or other critical services.
Abstract:
A slide positioner for moving a structural member from an inoperating position to a working or operating position has a square shaft for supporting the structural member. Two bearing assemblies are adapted for supporting the sliding shaft. The two bearing assemblies are spaced one from the other and are connected to a stationary base. One of the bearing assemblies is rigidly connected to a pneumatic cylinder whose piston rod is connected to the sliding shaft. The bearing assemblies are mountable to the base in various angular positions since the bearing assemblies may be pivoted around an axis which is parallel to the axis of the sliding shaft.

Abstract:
A computer includes a base unit and an upper unit which encloses all electronic components of the computer, such as an LCD display, system board, various drives, sound card, speakers, and modem. The base unit has dimensions of only about 11 inches by 7 inches and can easily be placed in small areas. Unlike a typical desk-top computer which has external cords or cables connecting the display to a main casing, the computer only requires a single power cable and a telephone cord and has a light weight which permits the computer to be easily transported to different locations. The upper unit can pivot relative to the base unit by simply pulling or pushing the upper unit with one hand to the desired angle and then releasing the upper unit. The base unit frictionally engages the upper unit to maintain the upper unit at the desired angle.
Abstract:
A brake operating device includes a bracket for attachment to the bicycle, an operating lever pivotally supported on the bracket about a pivot point, and a guide having a path that extends toward the pivot point. An anchoring member is connected to the force transmission element and is disposed for movement along the path of the guide during operation of the operating lever. An adjustment mechanism is provided for adjusting a range of movement of the anchoring member along path of the guide.
Abstract:
Apparatus for determining the position of a piston in a hydraulically or pneumatically operated actuator including a fixed position, rotatable shaft having a pair of attached pins, each pin off-set from the center of the shaft. The pins are positioned on either side of a drive ring located about the circumference of the piston. When the piston moves in either direction, one of the pair of pins will remain in contact with the drive ring and cause uni-directional rotation of the shaft. In order to detect piston position, a sensor is mounted to detect shaft rotation.
Abstract:
A crank spindle formed with an eccentric pin at one end thereof is pivotally supported by bearings within a casing. The crank spindle is driven by a motor and a worm mechanism. A cross pin member formed with an upper axle and a lower axle is pivotally fitted to the eccentric pin of the crank spindle. An upper holder is fitted to the upper axle of the cross pin member and a lower holder is fitted to the lower axle thereof. A steering bar is fastened to the lower holder. When the eccentric pin is pivoted by the motor and the worm mechanism, since the cross pin member is pivoted, the upper and lower holders are also pivoted to shift the steering bar in the horizontal direction. The rear wheel steering apparatus can be installed within a small space.
Abstract:
A first shaft 2a and a first guide portion 2c are provided on a rear side portion 2 of an information inputting apparatus. The first guide portion 2c advances in a direction spaced away from the first shaft 2a toward below, and a notch hole 2h connects to a lower portion of the first guide portion 2c. Then, a second guide portion 3b for engaging with the first shaft 2a and a second shaft 3d for engaging with the first guide portion 2c are provided on the foot member 3, and a pair of resilient pieces 3e are provided on side faces of the foot member 3. Further, a foot cover 5 is provided which has an extending through portion 5e for moving the foot member 3 to appear and disappear and is supported for rotation on the first shaft 2a. When the hook member 3 is rotated the distance between an end portion 3a of the hook member 3 and the first shaft 2a increases gradually, and when the hook member 3 is rotated also after the resilient pieces 3e are contacted with resilient piece receiving portions 5i of the hook cover, the second shaft 3d is fitted with the notch hole 2h.
Abstract:
An actuator means for an electrical switch concealed in a housing and operated by a handle externally mounted to the cover thereof, whereby, upon closing the cover, the actuator automatically moves in a rectilinear direction to locate the toggle operating lever of the switch and rotatably moves the externally viewed handle to preposition it to indicate the energization state of the switch. Alternatively, the actuator permits operation of the switch by rotating the externally accessible handle. This invention is especially suited to circuit breaker switches contained in explosion-proof or hazardous location-rated enclosures.
