    摘要: Manually segmenting animal carcasses into primary cuts involves an enormous amount of manual labor and attendant expense. However, known automated systems for segmenting carcasses cannot match the accuracy of expert butchers. The apparatus for segmenting animal carcasses disclosed herein provides an imaging station having a vision system that determines parameters of the interior and/or exterior of the carcass. Using these parameters, a computer determines a cutting path or a plurality of cutting paths for segmenting the carcass. A mounting vehicle, which securely holds the carcass, transports the carcass from the imaging station to a cutting station. In the cutting station, electrically controlled cutting implements, such as high-pressure water jets or lasers, segment the carcass along the determined cutting path or paths.

    摘要: A device for removing abdominal fat from a slaughtered bird, comprising a scraper element which is movable through an abdominal opening between the legs, and a device for discharging the fat scraped off by the scraper element, further comprising an elongated hollow mandrel, which can be connected to a vacuum source. The mandrel at the end facing the bird is provided with a suction aperture, at a distance from which the scraper element is fitted, said scraper element being provided with a scraping edge for interacting with the complementary-shaped edge of a supporting element, for scraping the abdominal fat along the scraping edge during a movement of the scraper element interacting with the supporting element away from the bird. An installation may comprise a number of such devices. In a method for operating the device the scraper element is inserted into the belly cavity of the bird; the skin with the abdominal fat is sucked into the mandrel; the supporting element is moved to the scraping edge, leaving a narrow gap; and the scraper element and the supporting element are moved away from the bird.

With the purpose of obtaining an automatized cutting process to free the rectum of animals, which may vary as to size and also be individually different, the method is characteristic in that the carcass is fixed with respect to a vertical plane through the axis of the knife, that the hind part of the carcass is fixed with respect to a vertical plane perpendicular to the first plane, that a linear sensor parallel with the second plane is moved downwards in a substantially vertical direction in such a distance from the second plane that it hits the root of the animals tail, and that the rotating knife is adjusted to a predetermined position with respect to the sensor, when it is hitting the root of the tail, after which the sensor is moved to an inactive position out of the way of the knife, whereafter the cut is made.

    摘要: A mechanical method for splitting the breastbone of hog carcasses comprises the steps of determining, by means of a sensor device, the length of the carcass by determining the distance between a datum plane and the snout of the carcass. The cutting of the carcass is then initiated, by means of a remote controlled cutting hit point on the carcass that is located at a distance from the datum plane that is a function of the length of the carcass. The length of the cut from the hit point to a cut termination point on the carcass is controlled as a function of the length of the carcass as determined by the position of its snout. The breast splitter comprises a snout height sensor for determining the length of the suspended carcass by determining the distance between the datum plane and its snout. A detector is provided for detecting the positioning of the selected suspended carcass at a control point along the path of the overhead conveyor. A robotic cutter is provided. The robotic cutter has a cutter blade and a manipulator mounting the cutter blade for movement along a controlled path which initially extends from an initiation point toward the carcass to contact the carcass at a hit point and then extends downwardly along a cutting stroke. A programmable controller communicates with the snout height sensor and the position detector to receive and is programmed to process the signals it receives to generate command signals which are indicative of the height of the hit point and the length of the cutting stroke required to split the breastbone without damaging the vital organs of the carcass. The controller communicates with said robotic cutter means to transmit the command signals to the manipulator.

    摘要: A band saw wherein one of the pulleys for an endless band-like blade is movable toward and away from the other pulley to relax the tension upon or to tension the blade. The one pulley is permanently biased away from the other pulley by a relatively weak spring whose bias can be overcome by hand to facilitate the removal of a blade or the application of a fresh blade. In addition, the one pulley is normally biased away from the other pulley with a pronounced force by a package of dished springs whose bias upon the one pulley can be interrupted by a single-acting cylinder and piston unit whose piston is installed between the dished springs and a reciprocable carriage for the one pulley. The dished springs react against a support for the pulleys and bear against the piston. Two twisting units are provided to maintain a central portion of one of the two elongated reaches of the blade in a plane which is normal to the axes of the pulleys, and such twisting units can be pivoted or otherwise moved into and from engagement with the one reach by fluid-operated motors.
