A basket for holding a flavoring substance is mounted to the end of the shaft. The basket can thus be raised and lowered within the vessel through action of the shaft. A continuous lip of flexible polymer surrounds the periphery of the basket, for engagement with the interior wall of the vessel. With flavoring substance in the basket, liquid is poured into the vessel in such a way as to retain air in the space between the basket and the bottom of the vessel. The basket is pushed downwards, causing at least part of the air retained in the space between the basket and the bottom portion of the vessel to displace the flavoring substance while the air rises within the vessel, resulting in improved infusion of the flavoring substance.

    摘要: An infusion beverage brewing system includes a container and an infuser. The infuser is positioned in a liquid, such as hot water, and has an infusing chamber for containing infusible materials, such as tea leaves. A plunger includes a piston with a peripheral seal and flap valves. After a brewing time has elapsed, an individual pushes on an operator to move the piston past a perforated wall portion of the infusing chamber. When the piston reaches a solid wall portion at the bottom of the infusing chamber, the flap valves open to allow liquid to escape. However, small apertures aligned with the flap valves prevent the passage of the infusible material. Consequently the infusible material is isolated from the liquid when the piston reaches a solid bottom wall portion of the infusing chamber.

    摘要: An insulating jacket for a press-type coffee maker (coffee press) is described. A coffee press brews coffee by having ground coffee placed in a heat resistant container (typically glass) and boiling water added. The mixture is allowed to brew for a specified period after which a plunger affixed to the top of the container having a filter screen at the lower end, is pushed downward into the container, separating the coffee grounds from the coffee. Coffee press coffee makers provide a superior flavor, however heat tends to dissipate rapidly from the container. The invention includes an insulating jacket extending from the top end of the coffee press to its base with openings provided for the handle and the spout of the coffee press. A central hole, surrounded with elastic so that it fits tightly around the plunger rod, is provided in the top end of the jacket to permit the plunger of the coffee press to be activated while the jacket is in place. Openable members are provided to secure the jacket about the opening for the handle so as to prevent unnecessary heat loss and to permit visual inspection of the remaining level of coffee. A hinged flap seals the spout opening when the coffee press is placed on is base and swings upwardly from the spout when coffee is poured. The flap may be closed with a magnet to further secure heat within the coffee press. An insulated pad may be provided for use beneath the base of the coffee press which is hingedly attached to the lower perimeter of the jacket.

The brewing system includes an elongated handle, a basket formed at one end of the handle and a movable basket top member having a leg hinged to the handle. The basket has a predetermined size substantially equivalent to the correct amount of ground coffee for the single cup of brewed coffee.     摘要: The invention disclosed herein provides a way to engage a used concentrate packet such as a tea bag in a drink container in which a liquid product was made from the concentrate without removing the packet from the container and without having to directly contact the packet. Thus, one need not wet his or her fingers or anything in the area of the container, and the used packet when engaged will not interfere with drinking of the liquid product. The packet is also isolated from the interior of the drink container to inhibit further infusion or dissolving of any concentrate remaining in the packet, thereby to control the strength or concentration of the liquid product without having to remove the packet from the container. In the preferred embodiment the holder defines a compartment into which the used packet may be moved to isolate the packet from the interior of the drink container so as to inhibit further concentrating the liquid product from any concentrate in the packet. The compartment has a first opening thereto in the container and the flexible element passes through the opening so that movement of the flexible element towards the holder draws the packet into the compartment. The compartment is sized to allow the packet enter the compartment through the opening and be engaged in the compartment. Preferably, the compartment is sized such that the packet is squeezed when moved from the drink container into the compartment causing liquid in the packet to be squeezed therefrom. The compartment has a second opening which is sized to permit the flexible element but not the packet to pass therethrough. When the flexible element passes through the first opening and is accessible at the second opening, the flexible element may be grasped and used to move the packet into the compartment through the first opening. This may be done with a cover engaged with a disposable container. The concentrate is provided pre-measured in a packet to make a single serving or dosage, or defined multi-servings or dosages, and the packet may be provided with an easily removable protective jacket.
