    摘要: An indexable cutting insert has upper and lower surfaces with a peripheral surface extending therebetween and having four side surfaces alternating with four corner surfaces. The side and corner surfaces intersect the upper surface to form side and corner cutting edges, respectively. Each side cutting edge includes a primary cutting edge adjoining one of the corner cutting edges at a first endpoint and a secondary cutting edge adjoining another one of the corner cutting edges at a second endpoint. In a top view, the four primary cutting edges define an imaginary first square, each primary cutting edge is tangential to its adjoining corner cutting edge, and each secondary cutting edge is curved and entirely located in one of four imaginary quadrants. The insert is removably secured in a rotary cutting tool such that one of the secondary cutting edges contains the axially forwardmost point of the insert's upper peripheral edge.

    摘要: A front and back chamfering rotary milling cutter includes a cutter body including an insert pocket and a star-shaped indexable cutting insert releasably retained in the pocket. The cutting insert has star-shaped upper and lower surfaces connected by a peripheral surface intersecting each of the upper and lower surfaces. The cutting insert includes a plurality of circumferentially alternating inner and outer corner portions. A cutting portion is defined by each outer corner portion together with an adjacent first inner corner portion rotationally forward thereof and an adjacent second inner corner portion located rotationally rearward thereof. Each cutting portion includes a front chamfering cutting edge extending from the outer corner portion to the first inner corner portion and a back chamfering cutting edge extending from the outer corner portion to the second inner corner portion.

    摘要: A cutting tool for simultaneously forming grooves and face surface features on the face of a golf club head, and methods of using said cutting tool, is disclosed herein. The tool preferably includes at least one groove cutting portion, which creates a groove having a sidewall angle, at least one radius cutting portion, which creates each groove's edge radii, and at least one face cutting portion, which flattens and/or textures the landing area disposed between each pair of grooves and is wider than the at least one groove cutting portion. The cutting tool of the present invention preferably spins around an axis parallel to the golf club face, and can include one or more micro-feature forming portions to create positive and/or negative texturing in the land areas between each pair of grooves.

Each peripheral side portion includes first and second sub-faces which form different angles with the first and second end planes.     摘要: The present invention relates to the cutting insert having a cutting edge which has a corner section that forms a convex arc shape when seen in a planar view from direction facing the rake face and a linear section that is in contact with the corner section at least at one end of the corner section and extends linearly. The plurality of serrations are positioned in a cutting tool in such a way so as to reduce regenerative chatter during a cutting operation. A method of reducing generative chatter by positioning the cutting inserts in a particular fashion in a cutting tool is also disclosed.

The cutting edges of each milling insert are situated on different levels in relation to the under side of the milling insert to alter the effective pitch between the active cutting edges of the milling inserts by indexing of at least one of the milling inserts.
