    摘要: A mobile drilling and production platform for arctic regions in which a hull having a deck forming the production platform is supported on a first set of parallel runners secured to the underside of the hull and extending fore and aft with spaces between the runners. A second set of parallel segmented runners are secured to the underside of the hull and extend perpendicular to the first set of runners, the second set of runners including a plurality of sections positioned in the spaces between the first set of runners. A plurality of rotating ice cutters are mounted on the hull and extend down in front of the ends of each of the runners, the ice cutters cutting channels in the ice in which the runners move and support the hull. One set of runners is vertically movable from the hull relative to the other set of runners whereby the weight of the hull can be transferred from one set of runners to the other to permit movement of the platform along two perpendicular axes or coordinance of motion.

    摘要: A cage-type enclosure is provided for the lower end portions of the upstanding power leg of an outboard marine propulsion unit from which the propeller of the unit is journaled with the cage enclosing the propeller and thus protecting the latter from fouling by weeds and other underwater debris and also serving to prevent accidental injury due to body portions of persons disposed in the water adjacent the propulsion unit from coming in contact with the enclosed propeller. The cage is generally egg-shaped in horizontal plan, inverted U-shaped in vertical transverse section and fin-shaped in side elevation including a forwardly and upwardly curving forward end portion, a substantially vertical rear end portion and a horizontal upper portion. The cage includes clamp structure at its upper end for removable clamped support from the power leg of the associated outboard marine propulsion unit adjacent the cavitation plate thereof.

    摘要: The invention relates to the generation of compressed gas for bubbling from a ship's hulls in ice-laden water in order to reduce the drag on the ship's movement produced by the ice, and also to help break up the ice. The compressed gas is generated by apparatus having an air compressor, a device for mixing fuel with the compressed air, a device for igniting the fuel/air mixture so that hot gas is generated under pressure, and at least one pipe which is provided for receiving the hot compressed gas and for supplying the gas to holes located in the hull of the ship below the waterline. The pressure of the gas is greater than the water pressure at the holes so that bubbling of the gas from the holes takes place.

    摘要: An icebreaker vessel formed of a pontoon-shaped forecastle, a wedge-shaped ship bottom with a center keel, at least one pair of additional marine propulsion and steering systems along the ship bottom on either side of the keel, trimming devices for lifting or lowering the forecastle by predetermined amounts, and driven wheel assemblies mounted along both sides of the forecastle. The pontoon-shaped forecastle portion is of a larger width than the remaining part of the ship's hull. The additional marine propulsion and steering systems may consist of Voith-Schneider propellers or of one or several pairs of jet propulsion units. Portions of the forecastle and the wheel assemblies may be heated by hot cooling water supplied from the vessel's engines.
