    摘要： A package having a handle for housing granular or similar products. The handle is a substantially flat strap handle which has a barb member on each end. The handle is inserted into two opposing openings in the side wall of the package. A section of the side wall adjacent each of the apertures includes a liner which separates the granular contents of the package from the area immediately surrounding the aperture. The liner is adapted to prevent the flow of granular contents out through the aperture. The package can be formed from a sleeve which, even with the handle inserted, is substantially flat. Also, with the package assembled the handle rests against the side wall of the package allowing shipping virtually as if the package did not have a handle.

    摘要： A carton has upright side walls, end walls, multiple inner flaps at the top of the carton, and an outermost flap at the carton top to cover the folded inner flaps. An elongated opening is provided through the outer flap, and a substantially flat strip handle extends at least partly in that opening and has opposite end portions retained to the outer flap and extending beneath same.A substantially flat closure means closes the opening beneath said handle and isolates said handle from said inner flaps, the closure means including a first closure sheet underlying the opening and flatly attached to said outermost flap and supporting the handle end portions at the side of said first sheet furthest from the outermost flap. There are windows in the first closure sheet through which the handle passes. The closure means also includes a second and flexible closure sheet underlying the first closure sheet and attached thereto, so as to close the windows, the second closure sheet also covering the first closure sheet and retaining said handle end portions to the first closure sheet; and the first closure sheet also contains a slit extending between the windows, and beneath the major length of the handle, to enable downward deflection of the first closure sheet by finger pressure facilitating under grasping of the handle in stored position in said opening, the second closure sheet also covering the slit.

    摘要： A carton has a handle formed on its top. The carton comprises top and bottom walls connected by a tubular body. The top wall has inner and outer panels extending from opposite sides of said tubular body and being overlapped and secured together. An elongated handle panel is formed from a portion of the outer top panel, and is substantially equally spaced from the tubular body opposite sides. A score line is formed in the outer top panel to define the handle panel, which score line extends substantially parallel to a free end edge of the outer top panel and at least to the tubular body. This handle panel lies flat against the top wall of the carton while it is shipped and stored, and is readily accessible by tearing along the score line. The handle panel is oriented to lift the carton in line with the carton center of gravity to avoid tilting of the carton.

    摘要： A basket for fruit and produce having corrugated board bottom and folded double thickness side and end walls in various sizes, such as peck and half-bushel, and having a plastic handle. The handle is formed of a flattened tubular plastic member such as extruded tubular polyethylene. The flattened handle preferably is generally oval in cross section and preferably has concave upper and lower walls and rounded edges in cross-section providing a double-thickness handle stiff enough to maintain its arched shape when stapled to the corrugated board basket side walls. The lower ends of the tubular plastic handle are each stapled by one or two staples to the outer layer only of the corrugated board side walls. The staples are engaged only with the outer layer of the flattened tubular handle member. An opening is formed at the outer corner between each basket side wall and the bottom wall midway between the ends for insertion of the anvil of a stapling tool exteriorly of the basket to telescope the anvil into an end of the tubular handle so that no clinched staple ends project to the interior of the basket.
