摘要: A rotary engine, parts thereof, and methods associated therewith is provided. The engine is modular and adjustable to accommodate a variety of requirements and preferences. The system includes a combustion assembly having a housing and a power rotor positioned therein. The power rotor rotates in a first direction from the beginning of each combustion process through the end of each exhaust process. The system also includes a compression assembly linked to the combustion assembly such that the compression rotor rotates in the first direction from the beginning of each intake process through the end of each compression process. A tank assembly in fluid communication with the compression assembly and the combustion assembly provides stability to the system while eliminating or otherwise reducing transitional loses.

摘要: A rotary engine has a rotor with a rotor pocket for receiving air-fuel mixture that is combusted therein to propel the rotor within the housing. The rotary engine may have one or more intake spray injectors that spray fuel into the rotor pocket and onto the rotor face within the intake chamber to effectively cool the rotor pocket and rotor face. An air channel extension of the rotor pocket may be configured in the housing and/or in the rotor to extend from the compression chamber into the ignition-combustion chamber to relieve some pressure in the trailing compression chamber of a rotor face to minimize negative work. A supplemental air-fuel conduit may be configured to supply high-pressure gas from the compression chamber to an ignition injector(s). A thrust nozzle may be configured within the rotor pocket to direct combustion gases therethrough to propel the rotor and increase efficiency.

摘要: A rotary engine that starts and operates on compression-ignition of a heavy fuel without a secondary ignition source. The rotary engine includes a rotor housing that forms an epitrochoidal-shaped chamber having linear side portions extending between rounded end portions. A three-flanked rotor is disposed in the chamber to rotate and operate in a manner similar to that of a common Wankel-style rotary engine. The rotor and chamber are configured to provide a compression ratio sufficient to produce compression-ignition of a heavy fuel. The rotor includes apex seal and side seal mounting blocks formed from hardened materials and that are simply removable from the rotor for replacing apex and side seals. The apex seals may include multiple non-parallel seal members at each apex and the apex seals and the side seals may overlap or intersect a corner seal to increase sealing under high compression loads produced by the rotor/chamber configuration.

摘要: An actuator of a rotary engine that can realize different compression ratios includes three parts: an eccentric shaft, a triangle rotor and a control system. The eccentric shaft includes the front part of the eccentric shaft, the combination of an electric three-jaw and the rear part of the eccentric shaft. The triangle rotor includes the variable volume actuator, the front part of the rotor and the rear part of the rotor. The control system controls expansion and contraction of the electric three-jaw. The eccentric shaft part passes through the triangle rotor part to make the combination of electric three jaw to arrange in the annular groove. The reciprocating motion of the variable volume actuator is controlled by the expansion and contraction of the claw top of the electric three-jaw. Engine compression ratio may therefore be adjusted using the compression ratio adjustment system.

摘要: A method of operating a compoundable engine that includes a turbine having a turbine shaft and an intermittent internal combustion engine having an engine shaft. The engine shaft is rotated at a first rotational speed. The turbine is driven by exhaust gases of the intermittent internal combustion engine to rotate the turbine shaft while the engine shaft rotates independently from the turbine shaft. A rotatable load is driven with the turbine shaft. A rotational speed of the engine shaft is increased from the first rotational speed until the turbine shaft reaches a predetermined rotational speed. After the turbine shaft has reached the predetermined rotational speed, the rotational speed of the engine shaft is adjusted until the turbine shaft and the engine shaft are drivingly engageable with each other, and the turbine shaft with the engine shaft are engaged such that both are in driving engagement with the rotatable load.
