    摘要： A load-supporting platform of a weighing scale has a stem rigid with a vertical member of a spring-loaded parallelogrammatic linkage which includes two generally horizontal levers, the upper lever carrying a depending boss terminating in a pin which engages in a radial slot of a deflection wheel, rotatable about a vertical axis offset from that pin, to which a weight-indicating pointer is attached. The slot, extending generally parallel to the pivotal axes of the levers, is wide enough to afford a certain amount of play for the pin motion and is lined along one edge with a magnet which attracts the magnetically permeable pin onto that edge as soon as the system has come to rest.

    摘要： A high speed weighing scale for use in a continuous mail sorting and postage imprinting system which automatically weighs and meters each piece of mail. The system is designed to rapidly handle a large quantity of mixed mail. Mixed mail is continuously and synchronously fed in seriatim along a continuous feed path. Unsealed envelopes have their flaps wetted and sealed. All the envelopes are stopped at a weighing station where they are weighed, and the postage corresponding to their particular weight is computed. The determined postage value is used to continuously reset a postage meter which imprints the required postage upon each envelope as it arrives at a metering station. The metering and weighing functions of the system are synchronized such that the postage meter will imprint the proper postage upon each piece of mail, despite the fact that several envelopes may be simultaneously in transit along the feed path. Overweight pieces of mail are rejected from the feed path prior to their reaching the postage meter station. Metered and overweight pieces of mail are separately stacked.

    摘要： An analogue measuring machine has a sensing mechanism which reacts against a resistance mechanism, measurement being indicated by an indication mechanism driven by the sensing means. The indication mechanism comprises a thin flexible band which extends between first and second pulley wheels and has its ends secured to the pulley wheels. The first pulley wheel is driven by the sensing means to move an index carried by the band relatively to a scale. A driving means is arranged so that the second pulley wheel is driven in unison with the first pulley wheel to maintain the length of the band between the first and second pulley wheels constant.

    摘要： This scale''s weight indicating mechanism is protected against destructive shear leads being imposed on the rack and pinion through the weight indicating means, first by providing a cushioning spring abutment for the rack near the return end of the slot for cushioning effect. Secondly, an elongated rotary floating stop plate is provided for the weight indicating dial, having widely spaced stop projections at the pivoted end for abutment with opposite sides of a boss on the dial adapter for one portion of the greatly increased range of free rotation of the dial in either direction, a stop projection on the stop plate on its other end being arranged to engage either side of a fixed stop to provide plenty of additional free turning, and hence regardless of ''''flywheel'''' action of the dial, no damage is done to the vulnerable scale parts mentioned.
