Abstract: An authentication system includes an object including an authentication hologram disposed over an area of a surface of the object. The authentication hologram is defined by a pattern of reflective material and includes latent authentication information. The system includes a computer-readable medium including program instructions for execution by one or more processors. The program instructions are executable by the one or more processors to: (i) receive, from an image capture device, a digital image of the authentication hologram, wherein light reflected by the reflective material is captured in the digital image of the authentication hologram, and (ii) detect the latent authentication information in the digital image of the authentication hologram, wherein an effect of the reflected light is reduced to detect the latent authentication information.

Abstract: In some implementations, a system is capable of generating identifications that include distinctive line patterns corresponding to different portions of secure customer information. Data indicating an input image, and a dithering matrix representing a two-dimensional array of pixel values is obtained. Pixel values of pixels included in the input image are transformed using the dithering matrix. For each pixel within the input image, the transformation includes identifying a particular pixel value within the dithering matrix that represents a particular pixel within the input image, and adjusting an intensity value of the particular pixel based on attributes of the dithering matrix. A transformed image is generated based on the transformation and then provided for output.

Abstract: An information terminal which allows an increase in a manufacturing cost to be suppressed is disclosed. A ticket printer is held above a paper sheet processing device. A guide by which a ticket or the like ejected from a ticket ejection slot of the ticket printer is guided and an insertion slot of a paper sheet processing device are held in a state in which the guide and the insertion slot have a predetermined angle. A ticket or the like which is printed by the ticket printer is supplied from the ticket ejection slot of the ticket printer via the guide to an opening part of a bezel. On the other hand, a paper sheet which is inserted into the paper sheet processing device is supplied from the opening part of the bezel to the insertion slot of the paper sheet processing device.

In general, the present disclosure features methods of marking substrates, e.g., substrates including plastics, such as plastic-based products, such as polymer banknotes. Such plastics can be rigid or flexible, e.g., elastomeric. Such plastics can be thermoplastic or thermosets. In some cases, the products are marked by irradiating plastic-based materials, e.g., sheet materials, under conditions that alter characteristics of the irradiated plastic.

Abstract: A method of integrating a mark in a document. A frame to be printed is selected. At least one color of the selected frame is selected. A color density for each selected color for the selected frame is determined. A digital code is selected for each selected color. After printing, the digital code includes the density of the color. and is integrated into the frame of the corresponding color. The frame including the digital code is printed. Preferably, the digital code is a digital anti-copy mark designed to form, following the printing step, a printed anti-copy mark with an error rate of more than five percent.

Abstract: A paper sheet authentication apparatus determines the type of the paper sheet by using a characteristic other than a fluorescent light characteristic, sequentially emits excitation lights of different wavelengths on the paper sheet, measures an intensity of light per wavelength within a predetermined range emitted by a fluorescent material applied to the paper sheet, and acquires fluorescent light characteristic data as the result. The paper sheet authentication apparatus performs the authentication of the paper sheet by using fluorescent light characteristic data of a genuine paper sheet previously stored per type of the paper sheet or a threshold calculated therefrom and the acquired fluorescent light characteristic data.
