A printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) includes a vital signs sensor, a flexible battery, a light emitting device (LED), connects to the printed silver-silver chloride electrodes, and bonds to the double-sided medical tape. A polyethylene foam includes a cut-out for the flexible the LED. The PCBA bonds to the polyethylene foam layer. A plunger operates within a cut-out on the polyethylene foam layer. An acrylic adhesive transfer tape bonds to the acrylic adhesive transfer tape. The medical tape, the double-sided medical tape, the polyethylene foam, and the acrylic adhesive transfer tape bond to seal against environmental exposure.

The device may include a housing enclosing a circuit board and a flexible wing extending from the housing. The electrical trace may have an insulator with a conductive material and resistors printed on the surface of the insulator. The trace layer may include conductive vias for transmitting the signal from a bottom of the trace layer to a top of the trace layer. The housing may include a battery having a battery terminal connector configured to provide electrical access to both terminals on a single side of the battery. The housing may include a floating trigger button.

Some embodiments of the invention allow for long-term monitoring of physiological signals. Further embodiments allow for processing of the detected cardiac rhythm signals partially on the wearable cardiac monitor device, and partially on a remote computing system. Some embodiments include a wearable cardiac monitor device for long-term adhesion to a mammal for prolonged detection of cardiac rhythm signals.
