    摘要: The invention relates to a drilling tool, especially for percussion drilling, which comprises a cutting element (3) that is configured as a plate (3) or head and that has at least one cutting edge (11) defined by a cutting face (6) and a free face (10). The cutting edge (11) is associated with a first free face section (10a) which is limited in a cutting plane at a right angle to the cutting edge (11) and parallel to the longitudinal axis (L) of the drilling tool (1) by a convex bulge (13) or a convex polygon outline. The vertical height of a rib (14) defined by the first free face section (10a) and an associated first cutting face section (6a) ranges from 0.1 mm to 1.0 mm.

    摘要: A rotary borer has a body (10) mountable on a drill steel and one or more cutting tips (30) at a front of the body (10). Each tip (30) is tapered and is frictionally received in a corresponding tapered slot (22) in the body (10). The slot (22) has a trailing, rigid anvil surface (16), which extends almost to the extremity of the tip (30) to support the tip (30) and to locate it laterally, and a leading, resilient retaining surface (20) well shy of the extremity of the tip (30) to expose a portion of the tip. The tip (30) is readily replaceable. Release of the tip can be effected by heat or by means of taper drift (38) for which a transverse hole (37) is provided proximate a bottom of the slot (22).

    摘要: A drill bit for cutting hard and abrasive materials has cutting lips formed from sintered polycrystalline diamond (PCD) or polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PCBN) contained in one or more inserts installed in a drill bit blank. The inserts are made by forming depressions in the upper surface of a matrix slab of tungsten carbide, filling the depressions with fine mesh grains of diamonds or cubic born nitride, subjecting the slab to heat and pressure sufficient to fuse the grains to one another and to the surrounding matrix walls, and then cutting the matrix slab to remove individual inserts containing an elongated vein having an exposed PCD or PCBN surface supported by at least one and preferably two or more side walls of tungsten carbide. A rectangular slot having side walls parallel to one another and equidistant from the diameter of a cylindrical drill bit blank is cut into one transverse end wall of the blank, and one or more inserts placed in the slot. The tungsten carbide walls of the inserts are then brazed to the adjacent side walls of the slot. The bit is then ground to a desired configuration, in which PCD or PCBN material forms at least part of at least one cutting lip of the finished drill bit. Preferably, flutes are formed in drill bit blank as part of the grinding operation.
