    摘要: An electrostatically controlled, micromachined micromechanical capacitor having an adjustable, extensive tuning range. A configuration consists of a set of various sized beams or plates adjacent to a common plate or plates. The pairs of plates are linearly moved relative to each other to provide an adjustable capacitance. The movement of the plates is caused electrostatically by an application of a DC or low frequency voltage to the respective plates. The signals that are processed by these micromechanical capacitors are typically in the megahertz range and higher. The process for micromachining the micromechanical capacitor is similar to the process utilized in integrated circuit fabrication.

    摘要: A backplane comprises several socket connectors that are arranged in parallel, side by side on a side that faces the modules. The socket connector has pins which form a pin field that face away from the modules. At least one bus comprises at least one bus line. A bus contact pin of each socket connector of the bus has an associated contact pin. These contact pins are electrically connected to each other with a bus line. Each contact pin can be electrically connected with a jumper plug to its associated bus contact pin. A backplane comprising a bus that extends beyond the modules is thus obtained where modules can be separated from the bus without having to pull the modules from their plug-in locations on a module carrier.

    摘要: An adjustable electromechanical device, such as a potentiometer, a variable capacitor or a multiple switch, comprising a shaft which is rotatably mounted in a sleeve. The shaft is retained in the axial direction by an annular wall portion of the bearing sleeve at the free end of the sleeve, the annular wall portion is spaced from the remainder of the sleeve by at least one but preferably two evenly distributed slots which extend circumferentially in the wall of the sleeve. The annular wall portion remains connnected to the remainder of the bearing sleeve at at least one location. The free parts of the annular portion are deformed to engage a circumferential groove in the shaft.

    摘要: A pressure-sensing capacitor and a method for trimming the capacitor is disclosed. The capacitor includes a pair of spaced flexible parallel quartz plates. A thin circular layer of conductive metal is formed on the opposing inner surfaces of the plates to define the electrodes of the capacitor. A glass frit sealing compound, forming a concentric ring about the conductive layers, is disposed between the plates to seal the evacuated space between the plates. The thickness of the ring is small enough so that the capacitance between the electrodes is higher by an unknown amount than the desired value of capacitance at every point in the range of variation of the value of pressure. The capacitor is trimmed by first measuring the capacitance value at zero pressure and also at a maximum pressure. The size and location of a path on one of the electrodes is computed from the measured capacitance values and the deflection characteristics of the plates. A point on the inner surface of one of the flexible plates moves a maximum perpendicular distance towards the other plate under pressure. That point defines a maximum deflection point along a deflection axis perpendicular to the inner surface at the maximum deflection point. Radiant energy in the form of a laser beam is applied to the electrode to cut through the electrode along the computed path which is closed on itself to define a disc eccentrically spaced a calculated distance from the deflection axis so that the value of capacitance at zero and the maximum pressure is substantially equal to the desired values.

The disk rotors are, respectively, of different sizes, of different dielectric constant, or of different thickness, or of different dielectric-temperature varying material, and each one of the shafts is carried out to a separate lead to provide a separate terminal for the rotors, individually, against the common stator electrode, to provide for coarse and fine adjustment, by varying, respectively, the rotor having the higher capacitor unit, or to provide for temperature compensation by simultaneously varying the position of two rotors of different dielectric-temperature coefficient. The rotors can be connected together so that both rotors and stators are connected in parallel; or they may be serially connected, for serial adjustment.
