    摘要: A capacitor is provided, which allows a user to readily change or adjust its capacitance value. The capacitor includes a dielectric film, which includes first and second conductor layers disposed on opposite surfaces thereof, and which is wound into a rod shape. First and second electrodes are led out from the first and second conductor layers, respectively. At least one of the first and second conductor layers includes an area-changeable conductor pattern, which is disposed (e.g., exposed) on an outer circumference side of the capacitor wound into the rod shape to receive physical treatment (e.g., cutting, connecting) from outside to thereby change the size of a conductor area of the at least one of the first and second conductor layers. Thus, the physical treatment changes the conductor area of the conductor layers, to thereby selectively set or adjust the capacitance value of the capacitor.

    摘要: A variable capacitor comprises a solid dielectric disc having one electrode disposed on one face thereof. A flexible electrode is selectively urged into contact with a second face of the disc, parallel to the first face. A translatable stem drives the second electrode into contact with the first surface. The variable capacitor is used in an implement which is moved relative to a position detecting tablet. The variable capacitor is part of a tuned circuit having a resonant frequency approximately the same as the frequency of AC energy applied to coils of the position detecting tablet.

    摘要: A highly accurate UHF television tuner utilizes an improved housing and an improved mounting system for securing the tuning rotor and stator within the housing. The housing is fabricated from sheet metal that is welded at the corners to provide mechanical rigidity, and soldered at the corners to provide a good electrical contact. A cover is placed over an open end of the housing and soldered at the corners further to increase the mechanical rigidity of the housing. The depth of the housing is increased to reduce the effects of the housing on the tuner elements. An eyelet is mounted in one end of the housing for supporting the rotor shaft, and the stator is mounted by insulating posts that are inserted through sleeves integrally formed in the housing. An improved contact for more effectively grounding the rotor shaft to the housing is provided, and an improved detenting system is provided for the selector shaft to reduce the effects of inertial creep. An improved method is provided for mounting the rotor plates to the rotor shaft and for mounting the stator plates to the housing to improve the accuracy of alignment between the rotor and stator plates.

    摘要: One embodiment of the present invention relates to a variable capacitor that operates without moving mechanical parts. In this capacitor electrically conductive electrodes are separated by an enclosed chamber filled with an electrically conductive material. The electrically conductive material can freely vary its position within the chamber. The capacitance of the device will vary as position of the conductive material changes due to external mechanical motion (ex: rotation vibration, etc.) of the device. According to one embodiment, a method for varying the capacitance of two conductive plates is provided. The method can include providing a micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) variable capacitor. The variable capacitor can include first and second actuation electrodes wherein one of the actuation electrodes is movable with respect to the other actuation electrode when a voltage is applied across the first and second actuation electrodes. Further, the variable capacitor can include first and second capacitive electrodes. The method can include applying a voltage to the first and second actuation electrodes for movement of at least one of the capacitive electrodes in a substantially straight direction with respect to the other capacitive electrode upon application of voltage across the first and second actuation electrodes to change the capacitance between the first and second capacitive electrodes.

    摘要: Micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) variable capacitor apparatuses, system and related methods are provided. According to one embodiment, a MEMS variable capacitor is provided. The variable capacitor can include first and second actuation electrodes being spaced apart, and at least one of the actuation electrodes being movable when a voltage is applied across the first and second actuation electrodes. Further, the variable capacitor can include a first capacitive electrode attached to the first actuation electrode. The variable capacitor can also include a second capacitive electrode attached to the second actuation electrode and spaced from the first capacitive electrode for movement of at least one of the capacitive electrodes with respect to the other capacitive electrode upon application of voltage across the first and second actuation electrodes to change the capacitance between the first and second capacitive electrodes. Further, the variable capacitor can include first and second torsional beams for providing resistance to movement of the first and second capacitive electrodes with respect to one another. The torsional beams can include a first and second end. Further, the torsional beams can be fixed to one another at the first end. The torsional beams can also extend in substantially opposing directions to the second end and are attached to the second capacitive electrode.
