摘要: An image coding method bitstream includes: determining a maximum number of a merging candidate which is a combination of a prediction direction, a motion vector, and a reference picture index for use in coding of a current block; deriving a first merging candidate; determining whether or not a total number of the first merging candidate is smaller than the maximum number; deriving a second merging candidate when it is determined that the total number of the first merging candidate is smaller than the maximum number; selecting a merging candidate for use in the coding of the current block from the first merging candidate and the second merging candidate; and coding, using the maximum number, an index for identifying the selected merging candidate, and attaching the coded index to the bitstream.

摘要: Technology is described for decoding a video block. A block-type syntax information is received which indicates a size of a video block in a video frame, wherein a maximum size of the video blocks is 32×32 or 64×64. The video block having the size indicated by the block-type syntax information is received. The video block is partitioned into partitions, and at least one of the partitions is encoded with a first encoding mode and at least one other of the partitions is encoded with a second encoding mode which is different from the first encoding mode. Syntax information is received for the partitions of the video block and for the first encoding mode and the second encoding mode. Motion vector information is received for one or more of the partitions. The video block is decoded based on at least the block-type syntax information and the motion vector information.

摘要: An instantaneous decoder refresh, IDR, picture is encoded. The IDR picture occurs at a random access point in a bitstream of data, includes only intra-prediction slices, I-slices, and does not refer to any picture or pictures other than itself for prediction. When the IDR picture has a subsequent leading picture, a first Network Access Layer, NAL, unit type of the IDR picture is generated indicating that the IDR picture has a subsequent leading picture, and the first NAL unit type is encoded. When the IDR picture does not have a subsequent leading picture, a second Network Access Layer, NAL, unit type of the IDR picture is generated indicating that the IDR picture does not have a subsequent leading picture, the second NAL unit type being different from the first NAL unit type, and the second NAL unit type is encoded. The subsequent leading picture follows the IDR picture in the encoding order and precedes the IDR picture in a display order, and the subsequent leading picture is encoded without inter-prediction from any picture that precedes the IDR picture in the encoding order.

摘要: A length indicator associated with an encoded representation of a slice is parsed. The length indicator is indicative of a length of an extension field present in a slice header of the encoded representation. A decoder can then determine to ignore, during decoding of the encoded representation, any value of the extension field in the slice header where these values are identified based on the length indicator. As a consequence, an extension field can be added to slice headers and still enable legacy decoders to correctly decode the encoded representations.

摘要: A bitstream, including a coded signal resulting from coding slices of an image, is decoded. Each slice includes plural largest coding units (LCUs). A slice is either a normal slice having a slice header with information useable for another slice or a dependent slice having an associated normal slice which is decoded using information included in a slice header of the associated normal slice. The image includes plural LCU rows, and each LCU row includes two or more LCUs. When decoding a first normal slice in a first LCU row that starts at a position other than a beginning of the first LCU row: (i) the first normal slice and any dependent slices associated with the first normal slice are decoded, and (ii) a second normal slice that starts at the beginning of a second LCU row, immediately following the first LCU row, is decoded.
