摘要： A concrete tie is provided with protuberances on opposite sides thereof serving to anchor a pair of one-piece spring-type rail fasteners. Each fastener has a bight tensioned on the protuberance, and a pair of legs extend upward from the bight. The upper ends of the legs are bent to afford extensions which overlie the base of the rail, and bends therein engage the base of the rail with a spring force. The free ends of the fasteners end in hooks, one hook being the complement of the other so that a pair of such fasteners may be complementally joined at the free ends and tensioned one on the other. The protruberances of the tie are under a great deal of compression and are reinforced by bends in a plurality of rodlike stringers embedded in the tie to extend between the protuberances.

摘要： A dual hand lever control for actuating the shipper rod which controls a hydraulic press valve in response to the simultaneous depression of both hand levers. A cross bar, centrally attached to the lower end of the shipper rod, carries a pivotally mounted, bell-crank at each of its opposite ends. Each of these bell cranks is movable with the shipper rod and also is pivotable along a secondary path to permit movement of one of its bellcrank arms into and away from an intermediate position in the path of movement of its cooperating hand lever. A linking bar is pivotally connected at each of its ends to the other bell-crank arm of each bell crank. Actuation of a single control lever exerts a force on its bell crank to pivot the bell crank along its secondary path without moving the shipper rod and, through the linking bar, to withdraw the other bell crank from the path of movement of the hand lever. When both hand levers are operated, these forces are exerted on both bell cranks but are cancelled by the linking bar to permit actuation of the shipper rod.

摘要： A sensor for sensing movement of a metal object, such as a railway wheel, along a given path, comprising three sensing coils, all tuned to the same operating frequency, spaced along the path with their axes intersecting the path, and connected in series in three consecutive arms of a pentagon bridge. An oscillator, connected to the remaining two bridge arms, excites the coils at their operating frequency. A metal object moving along the path disturbs the fields of the coils in a sequence depending upon its direction of movement; the direction and velocity of the metal object are indicated in output signals derived by additively combining and synchronously detecting the signal voltages developed at the bridge terminals. In the preferred construction, the two end coils each include a few turns encompassing the central coil to reduce mutual coupling between adjacent coils.
