A screw compressor is equipped with a manually operated internal volume ratio adjusting slide valve and capacity adjusting slide valve. The compressor is simple in construction, can be produced with low cost, can accommodate decrease in suction pressure, for example, in an aged gas well, and can be operated without an electric power source for controlling the operation thereof. Also a combined screw compressor unit consisting of a plurality of screw compressors for producing high discharge pressure is provided which can accommodate high suction pressure in order not to overload the higher pressure compressor or compressors with the efficiency of the unit kept as high as possible by including at least a screw compressor according to the present invention in the unit.

A method for performing a parking assist control for automatically guiding a vehicle to a target parking position includes the steps of calculating a change of a vehicle direction based on a traveling distance of the vehicle and a steering angle obtained by a steering angle sensor, calculating the change of the vehicle direction based on a yaw rate obtained by a yaw rate sensor, and determining whether or not the parking assist control is required to be stopped based on a result of a comparison between the calculated changes of the vehicle direction.

A parking-assist device for an automotive vehicle comprises an imaging unit which creates an image of an exterior behind the vehicle. A target-parking-position input unit inputs a target parking position to park the vehicle when requested. A target-parking-position memory access unit stores the target parking position and reads the stored target parking position when requested. A vehicle-travel-amount detection unit detects an amount of travel of the vehicle. A parking-route determining unit calculates a parking route from a current position of the vehicle to the target parking position. A display unit displays the created image and displays one of the target parking position inputted and the stored target parking position read on the created image in a superimposed manner.

A portable information terminal device having a camera feature and comprises a case provided with an image pickup module including a lens and an image pickup element and a lid member of the device provided at a predetermined position with an adapter optical system different from the lens. The lid member is linked to the case to be displaceable relative to the case between predetermined positions including a position for causing the optical axis of the lens and that of the adapter optical system to substantially agree with each other. When the optical axis of the lens and that of the adapter optical system are substantially agree with each other by displacing the case and the lid member relative to each other, the optical parameters of the synthetic optical system obtained by combining the lens and the adapter optical system are different from those of the lens.

The invention aims at providing communication timing changing method and device which are capable of changing timing of communication for setting control parameters used to determine operations of analog devices in the analog devices, respectively, over to another one not impeding any of the operation of the analog devices. An interface decoder decodes a control parameter communication signal outputted from a CPU, converts the resulting signal into control parameters, and preserves the resulting control parameters in a register. Interface encoders perform timing management based on a synchronous signal received from a synchronous signal generating circuit, read out the control parameters to be set in analog devices such as an image sensor driving circuit, a sample and hold circuit, and an ADC from a register, and communicate with the analog devices at good timing during a blanking period to set the control parameters in the analog devices, respectively.

A drive method for a solid-state imaging device having an oblique pixel pattern includes the steps of: adding, separately for an odd-numbered row and an even-numbered row, x pixels in the horizontal direction and y pixels in the vertical direction, the x pixels and the y pixels having the same color, in an area having adjacent n pixels in the horizontal direction and adjacent n pixels in the vertical direction, where n is an odd number of three or greater and n≧x≧y; and repeatedly adding the x pixels and the y pixels while shifting the n×n area by m pixels in the vertical or horizontal direction, where m is an odd number of three or greater. The n×n area of odd-numbered rows is displaced from that of even-numbered rows by m pixels in the oblique direction in the oblique pixel pattern.

A disc drive apparatus has a fixed unit and a collapsible unit which is supported to be expansible and contractible to the fixed unit. A disc drive section is arranged on the fixed unit. The collapsible unit is driven by an expansion/contraction mechanism to expand and contract relative to the fixed unit. A disc insertion opening is formed at a distal end in the expanding/contracting direction of the collapsible unit. When a disc is inserted into the disc insertion opening, the collapsible unit is expanded.

Parking assist apparatus and method cause a vehicle driver to set a target parking position in which the vehicle is to be parked by prompting the driver to specify the position of a parking space frame in the screen of a touch display by touch-operating arrow button switches shown in the screen, and then calculate a path to the target parking position. If a path to the target parking position is not generated by calculation, the arrow button switches for moving the parking space frame in such directions that a path will not be generated (i.e., the vehicle cannot be parked), among all the arrow button switches, are made non-displayed or are displayed dimmer than the other arrow button switches, and are disabled.

A parameter setting section sets a parameter stored beforehand in a parameter storage section as a parameter in an operation in an image pick-up section or an image processing section until an image pick-up start detection section detects an image pick-up start of a code. Moreover, when the image pick-up start detection section detects the image pick-up start of the code, the parameter setting section changes the parameter extracted from image information output from the image pick-up section or image information subjected to predetermined image processing in the image processing section from the parameter stored in the parameter storage section.
