Abstract: An electric machine includes a stator assembly and a bus bar assembly. The stator assembly includes a core with windings positioned on the core. The windings include in-slot portions, end turns, and leads. The leads extend from the in-slot portions at one of the ends of the core with ends of the leads extending axially past the end turns. The leads include a first plurality of leads positioned on a first side of the stator opposite a second plurality of leads positioned on a second side of the stator. The bus bar is substantially circular in shape and positioned radially inward from the end turns. The bus bar assembly includes three bus bars, each bus bar connecting at least one of the first plurality of leads to at least one of the second plurality of leads.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an adjustment mechanism (100) for variably adjusting the cross-section of a compressor inlet (22) and further relates to a corresponding compressor (20) including such an adjustment mechanism (100). The adjustment mechanism (100) comprises a plurality of rotatable orifice elements (110) and an actuation ring (120). The actuation ring (120) is mechanically coupled to the plurality of orifice elements 110 such that rotation of the actuation ring 120 causes movement of the orifice elements 110. The movement of the orifice elements (110) thereby adjusts the cross-section of a compressor inlet (22). The adjustment mechanism (100) further comprises a plurality of support members (140) which are arranged axially between the plurality of orifice elements (110) and the actuation ring (120). Additionally, the adjustment mechanism (100) comprises a spring (130), more specific a ring-shaped wave spring. The spring (130) is adapted to axially preload the plurality of orifice elements (110) and the actuation ring (120) when being in a mounted state.

The projection is designed to interact with the bearing housing as an anti-rotation safeguard for the bearing bush.

Abstract: A method includes determining a value of an operational motor current limit and setting a value of a startup current limit equal to a predetermined value in excess of the value of the operational motor current limit if a set of predetermined conditions is satisfied. The method includes determining that operation of the engine has been interrupted, operating the electric motor of the variable valve timing mechanism with a current having a magnitude that is less than or equal to the startup current limit after determining that operation of the engine has been interrupted, determining that operation of the engine has resumed, and operating the electric motor of the variable valve timing mechanism with a current having a magnitude that is less than or equal to the operational motor current limit after determining that operation of the engine has resumed.

Abstract: A stack of disk springs are placed between a second piston of a dual hydraulic variable force tensioner system and a hydraulic tensioner arm to allow much higher spring rates if desired. The springs may be stacked in multiple configurations to provide different spring rates. Package space can be reduced depending on the number of springs and orientations of said springs within the tensioner arm.

The EGR flow path includes a first fluid connection in the housing and located in proximity to the turbine, a second fluid connection located in proximity to a trailing edge of the compressor wheel, an EGR control valve disposed between the first fluid connection and the second fluid connection, the EGR control valve configured to selectively operate the turbocharger in a low-heat mode having an EGR up to 50% and an operational mode having an EGR rate typically less than 35%.

Abstract: A hydraulically-actuated variable camshaft timing (VCT) system comprises a spool valve including a sleeve and a spool, having a plurality of radially-outwardly extending lands, received within the sleeve; a first fluid supply port in the sleeve configured to receive fluid from a fluid supply; a second fluid supply port in the sleeve configured to receive fluid from the fluid supply; an advancing port in the sleeve in fluid communication with an advancing chamber of a hydraulically-actuated camshaft phaser; a retarding port in the sleeve in fluid communication with a retarding chamber of the hydraulically-actuated camshaft phaser; and an exhaust port axially positioned in the sleeve in between the first fluid supply port and the second fluid supply port or in between the advancing port and the retarding port, wherein the exhaust port is configured to selectively receive fluid from either the advancing chamber or the retarding chamber depending on an axial position of the spool relative to the sleeve.

Abstract: An electrically-actuated variable camshaft timing (VCT) assembly includes a gearbox assembly including an input; an electric motor having a rotor, a stator, and a motor shaft that is coupled with the input of the gearbox assembly, wherein the motor shaft includes etchings, on an outer surface of the motor shaft, that releasably couple the motor shaft to the rotor at a center aperture of the rotor when an amount of torque exerted on the motor shaft via the gearbox assembly is less than or equal to a predetermined torque value, and the etchings are further configured to decouple the motor shaft from the rotor when the amount of torque exerted on the motor shaft is greater than the predetermined torque value.
