A solid state imaging device having an X-Y addressable solid state imaging device with color filters and a driving unit which reads out pixel information of a same color filter in a unit pixel block as pixel information for one pixel simulatively. A predetermined color coding for the pixels has two rows and two columns. When k is a positive integer equal to or larger than 0, with (2k+3)×(2k+3) pixel blocks as unit pixel blocks, the driving unit reads out pieces of pixel information of the same color filter in each of the unit pixel blocks, the driving unit reads out pieces of pixel information of a same color filter in each of the unit pixel blocks simulatively as pixel information for one pixel in a state in which the unit pixel blocks are laid without overlapping one another, and the driving unit averages the added pieces of pixel information and outputs the averaged pieces of pixel information.

The camera body to which an interchangeable lens is mountable, the interchangeable lens including an optical member operable to change an optical condition and a drive unit operable to drive the optical member at a drive speed within a predetermined range, the camera body have: a receiving unit operable to receive silent speed information from the interchangeable lens, the silent speed information indicating a setting value related to a silent operation of the drive unit, the setting value being a value of a drive speed within the predetermined range; and a control unit operable to generate a control signal for driving the drive unit based on the received silent speed information, when attempting to drive the drive unit of the interchangeable lens with a suppressed drive sound of the interchangeable lens, and send the generated control signal to the interchangeable lens.

This invention relates to a pearlescent pigment, which is composed of flaky alumina substrate particles produced by a hydrothermal process and coat layers formed on the flaky substrate particles and composed of at least one metal oxide including at least a titanium oxide. The metal oxide has an average particle size of from 1 to 500 nm. According to this invention, it is possible to provide a pearlescent pigment, which has wholly uniform photoluminescence and an elegant and silky feel in combination and can fully satisfy artistry as desired.

In a MOS solid-state image pickup device including two capacitors storing electric charges of pixels in two rows for each column and two charge-voltage conversion amplifiers for outputting pixel signals corresponding to the electric charges stored in the capacitors, a switch for selectively short-circuiting input terminals of the charge-voltage conversion amplifiers and a switch for short-circuiting output terminals of the charge-voltage amplifiers are provided. In a first driving mode, the switches are not short-circuited so that analog signals are read in the form of dual-rail outputs. In a second driving mode, the switches are short-circuited so that an average of the analog signals is read.

In the solid-state imaging device, a well contact part is formed in an activation region of a photoelectric conversion portion. The well contact part fixes a well in which the photoelectric conversion portion and transistors of the pixel are provided at a predetermined potential.

In general, the invention provides a magnetic head device and linear tape drive that increase the resonant frequency and the range of a servo system. In particular, the invention provides a magnetic head device comprising a magnetic head chip with multiple magnetic head elements that is a structural part of the fine positioning system which allows the magnetic head elements follow the data tracks on the linear magnetic tape. Consequently, weight is reduced thereby increasing the resonant frequency and servo bandwidth. In another embodiment, the invention provides a magnetic head comprising bimodal actuators that are formed into an S shape and displaced by applying voltage where the polarization direction is opposite from one end to the other. In particular, the head chip may remain stable and may be driven dynamically thereby allowing the mechanical resonance of the bimodal actuator (including the head chip) to increase to 1 kHz or higher.
