Methods and apparatuses for transmitting data duplication in a wireless communication system are disclosed herein. In one method for a user equipment (UE) configured with data duplication. The UE duplicates a data unit into a first data unit and a second data unit. The UE constructs a second Radio Link Control (RLC) Packet Data Unit (PDU) used for transmitting the second data unit. The second data unit is a second RLC Service Data Unit (SDU). The UE receives a control command from a network node. The control command is used to deactivate the data duplication. The UE discards the second RLC PDU if the second RLC PDU includes the second RLC SDU.

A method and apparatus are disclosed from the perspective of a communication device. In one embodiment, the method includes the first communication device being configured with a first resource pool associated with a first communication identity. The method also includes the first communication device detecting a first data associated with the first communication identity becoming available for transmission. The method further includes the first communication device selecting a first resource from the first resource pool based on the first communication identity. In addition, the method includes the first communication device using the first resource to perform a first transmission including the first data through a device-to-device interface.

Methods and apparatuses for recovering a Radio Resource Control (RRC) connection in a wireless communication system are disclosed herein. In one method, a user equipment (UE) performs a procedure used to re-establish a RRC connection between the UE and a network node. The UE enters a RRC_INACTIVE state when the procedure is failed and if the UE has at least one parameter of the RRC_INACTIVE state. The UE enters a RRC_IDLE state when the procedure is failed and if the UE does not have the at least one parameter of the RRC_INACTIVE state.

In one example, a method for a mobile device comprises: entering, by the mobile device, a connected state; and transmitting, by the mobile device, a message to a network node after entering the connected state, wherein the message comprises a first indication for requesting a system information for sidelink and a second indication for requesting transmission resource for a sidelink service.

A method and apparatus are disclosed from the perspective of a UE for requesting SPS resources for V2X message transmissions in a wireless communication system. The method includes generating a first V2X message for transmission. In addition, the method includes transmitting a first signal to a network node for requesting SPS resources for transmitting the first V2X message and following first V2X messages which are generated subsequent to the first V2X message, wherein the first signal includes an identity used to associate the SPS resources with the first V2X message and the following first V2X messages. Furthermore, the method includes receiving a second signal from the network node, wherein the second signal contains a first information indicating the SPS resources and the identity. The method also includes transmitting the first V2X message and the following first V2X messages according to the SPS resources indicated by the first information.

A method and apparatus are disclosed for a relay UE to receive packets from an eNB where the relay UE acts as a relay for forwarding the packets between a remote UE and the eNB. In one embodiment, the method includes the relay UE connecting with the eNB. The method further includes the relay UE being configured with a radio bearer between the relay UE and the eNB. The method also includes the relay UE receiving a downlink packet on the radio bearer from the eNB, wherein the downlink packet is to be transmitted to the remote UE. In addition, the method includes the relay UE not transmitting any resource request to the eNB for requesting a SL grant for transmission of a sidelink packet including the downlink packet when the sidelink packet becomes available for transmission and there is currently no data available for transmission to the remote UE. Furthermore, the method includes the relay UE receiving the SL grant from the eNB. Also, the method includes the relay UE using the SL grant to transmit the sidelink packet to the remote UE.

A method and apparatus for triggering radio bearer release by a relay UE in a wireless communication system are disclosed. In one embodiment, the method includes the relay UE connects with an eNB. The method also includes the relay UE establishes a PDN connection for supporting traffic relaying. The method further includes the relay UE establishes a layer-2 link with a remote UE. In addition, the method includes the relay UE creates a radio bearer between the relay UE and the eNB for forwarding data packets between the remote UE and a PDN corresponding to the PDN connection. Furthermore, the method includes the relay UE sends a NAS message to the eNB if a failure of the layer-2 link is detected. And the method includes the relay UE receives a RRC message indicating release of the radio bearer in response to transmission of the NAS message from the eNB.

A method and device are disclosed for a relay User Equipment (UE) to support UE-to-Network relay communication with a remote UE. In one embodiment, the method includes the relay UE connecting with a network node. The method further includes the relay UE receiving a first paging message or information for the remote UE from the network node on a dedicated downlink channel or a paging channel. The method also includes the relay UE transmitting a second paging message or information to the remote UE in response to reception of the first paging message or information for the remote UE, wherein the second paging message or information is generated based on the first paging message or information.
