Abstract:
A container assembly comprising a container for containing fluid, and a container closure. The container includes a neck having a mouth therein for passage therethrough of liquid in the container, and a flange circumscribing and extending radially outwardly from the neck of the container. The flange includes a generally downwardly facing surface. The container closure comprises a closure cap portion adapted for releasable connection to the neck of the container. The closure cap portion comprises a generally annular-shaped skirt, and at least three protrusions extending generally radially inwardly from an inside surface of the skirt. The protrusions are circumferentially spaced from each other along the inside surface of the skirt. The protrusions of the closure cap portion and the flange of the container are configured for a resilient snap-fit engagement of the protrusions with the generally downwardly facing surface of the flange.

A closure comprising a cap and container where the cap is integrally formed with a trigger sprayer housing and the cap and container have four thread connectors that attach the cap to the container by a quarter turn of the cap relative to the container, and where the cap also has locking tabs that snap over detents on the container and hold the cap securely to the container preventing unintended separation of the cap from the container.
Abstract:
A manually operated reciprocating fluid pump for securement to a container's mouth. The fluid pump comprises a disperser body, a closure cap, a seal assembly, and a priming check valve. The dispenser body has a pump mechanism, a discharge port, and a discharge liquid flow path providing fluid communication between the pump mechanism and discharge port. The closure cap is connected to the dispenser body and is configured for closing the mouth of the container. The seal assembly has a first portion and a second portion. The first portion is shaped and configured for preventing leakage between the closure cap and the mouth of the container when the closure cap closes the mouth of the container. The second portion has an intake port adapted for fluid communication with liquid contained in the container. The second portion of the seal assembly and the dispenser body define an intake liquid flow path providing fluid communication between the intake port and the pump mechanism. A check valve in the intake liquid flow path is configured for permitting fluid flow from the intake port to the pump mechanism and for checking fluid flow from the pump mechanism to the intake port. The second portion of the seal assembly comprises at least part of the check valve.
Abstract:
A low cost trigger sprayer has a housing with a first liquid passage containing a spinner assembly. An elastomeric pump element is positioned generally horizontally such that pulling the trigger retracts the element and releasing the trigger allows the element to extend. The sprayer includes a low cost spinner assembly and low cost valving to control the flow of liquid within the sprayer. In one aspect of the invention, the housing has front and rear sections with the rear section having a saddle portion and being hinged to the front section for pivotal movement from an open position for molding the housing to a closed position for operating the sprayer. In another aspect of the invention, the container has a rear portion which extends upwardly past the neck and defining a saddle recess, with the housing connected to the neck of the container and positioned forwardly of the upwardly extending container portion. The sprayer may include an elastomeric spring for biasing the pump element in the extended position.

A dispenser assembly for dispensing liquid from a container has a dispenser operable remotely from the container by way of a tube communicating the dispenser and the liquid within the container. The dispenser assembly has a hand-held dispenser and a tube connected to the dispenser for extension into the liquid within the container. The dispenser is operable to dispense liquid from the container by way of the tube. An adaptor is secured to the container with the tube operable for extending from the dispenser, through the adaptor, and into the container. With the dispenser disconnected from the adaptor and with the adaptor secured to the container, the dispenser may be operated remotely from the container to dispense the liquid from the container.
Abstract:
A cap, spinner, and discharge nozzle assembly for use with a liquid dispensing apparatus such as a trigger sprayer. The spinner assembly can be externally fitted to the discharge nozzle, and includes an annular chamber surrounding a central post having a swirl chamber in its top. The central post includes longitudinal grooves, communicating with tangential grooves in an annular wall defining the swirl chamber. Apertures are provided in the base of the annular chamber such that pressurized liquid flows through the apertures and into the annular chamber, with a resulting reduction of velocity, and then along the longitudinal grooves and through the tangential grooves into the swirl chamber. A cap is provided which variably engages the discharge nozzle and which has at least a central projection on the inner side of its front face, and preferably an annular groove formed by an outer projection surrounding the central projection. The central projection may reversibly seal against the floor and/or annular wall of the swirl chamber, and the annular groove may seal over the annular wall.

A trigger sprayer having a nozzle assembly with a foam-inducing tube in front of its nozzle outlet orifice, an elongated pin having a convex tip for sealing the orifice, a door supporting the pin, and a hinge connecting the door to the nozzle assembly and strategically located to prevent interference between the pin and the tube when the door is swung about its hinge.
Abstract:
A dispenser for lotions, creams and the like has an annular collar in the form of a rotatable cam ring which may be turned to rock an actuator toward a dispensing, open position or toward a closed, non-dispending position. The cam ring has cam tracks that support the actuator when in its open, dispensing position so that finger pressure exerted on the actuator to pump products from the dispenser does not inadvertently rock the actuator toward its closed position. In preferred forms of the invention, a wall section formed as part of a shroud surrounding the actuator is yieldably biased in an inwardly direction, and snaps over the outlet of the actuator to close the outlet channel once the actuator has been pivoted toward its closed, non-dispensing position.
Abstract:
The dispensing pump has an actuator button which is depressible immediately alongside of the stationary discharge spout of the pump so that, when the button is fully extended in its standby position, its upper surface is approximately flush with the upper end extremity of the spout. A locking cover on the button may be slid into a closed position at this time covering the open end of the spout to both seal the latter and securely lock the button against accidental depression. An alternative embodiment provides a discharge passage within the button itself which may be opened and closed by appropriate positioning of a slide cover carried by the button.
