Abstract:
A security system is configured to be set in a notify mode if it fails to detect a response from the last person to leave the monitored environment or someone else who have left the house to arm the security system within a finite amount of time. When the security system is in the notify mode, the security system does not generate an alarm signal upon detecting a trigger event that would otherwise trigger an alarm if the system were in a fully armed mode, but instead, transmits a notification to legitimate residents or occupants who have left the monitored environment that the trigger event has occurred.
Abstract:
Systems and techniques are provided for motion sensor adjustment. A signal indicating that a moving heat source was detected by a passive infrared sensor may be received. A signal including a current temperature may be received. It may be determined based on the current temperature and at least one previous temperature that an area in proximity to the passive infrared sensor has experienced a temperature change. In response to the determination that the area in proximity to the passive infrared sensor has experienced a temperature change, the signal indicating that a moving heat source was detected by the passive infrared sensor may be disregarded as a false alert and no indication of motion detected may be sent.
Abstract:
A magnet and magnetometer may be integrated into a smart home environment and allow it to be placed into an away mode of operation despite an entry point being semi-open. The disclosed implementations can detect a magnetic field strength and determine, based on the detected field strength, an approximate distance that a moveable partition is open. In some configurations, the presence of a second magnetic source can be detected. A notice may be generated based on one or more signals received from the magnetometer. The notice may be sent to a controller, a remote system, a remote device, and/or a client device as disclosed herein.
Abstract:
Systems and methods of the disclosed embodiments provide a sensor to detect a side from which a door or window is being opened, and a controller communicatively coupled to the sensor to determine the side from which the door or window is being opened, and to generate a security exception based on the determination of the side from which the door or window is being opened.
Abstract:
Systems and methods of adjusting a pre-alarm time are provided, including detecting, by a sensor, an entry into a building by a person and generating detection data according to the detected entry. A processor communicatively coupled to the sensor adjusts a pre-alarm time according to the detection data. An alarm is output, by an alarm device communicatively coupled to at least the processor, according to the detection data and the adjusted pre-alarm time.
Abstract:
Systems and techniques are provided for guided installation of an opening sensor. A strength of a magnetic field created by a magnet of an opening sensor at a location of a magnetometer sensor of the opening sensor may be determined. Feedback may be provided to an installer of the opening sensor based on the determined strength of the magnetic field. A function of the opening sensor may be configured based on the determined strength of the magnetic field. The function may be associated with reporting the status of an entry point to which the magnetometer sensor may be affixed.

Abstract:
A method and system for optically detecting a user. A sequence of patterns of radiation reflected from an object in a room may be captured by a device. The patterns of radiation may be infrared radiation emitted from the device. A sequence of variations between the captured sequence of patterns of radiation and the emitted sequence of patterns of radiation may be determined and object characteristics of an object may be determined based upon the sequence of variations. The object characteristics may be a sequence of dimensions of the object and a sequence of locations of the object. The method may determine the first is a user based upon the determined object characteristics and a room profile. The room profile may include a plurality of object characteristics of one or more objects in the room.
Abstract:
A method of providing access to secure features of a device includes detecting motion of a secured device during entry of first access credentials on the secured device, storing first motion data in association with the first access credentials, the first motion data indicating a pattern of the detected motion, and granting access to a secured feature of the secured device when a user enters user access credentials matching the first access credentials accompanied by detected motion that produces user motion data matching the first motion data to a degree within a defined valid data range of the first motion data
