摘要： Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer program products, feature receiving an image mask where the image mask identifies a first opacity value of pixels in a raster image. The first opacity value ranges between a value representing foreground and a value representing background. Each pixel in the image has a color. A first boundary pixel is identified in the image. A second opacity value for the first boundary pixel is determined using a first local color model of opacity. The first local color model of opacity is determined based on the colors of the pixels in the image within a local neighborhood of the first boundary pixel.

One product can receive a digital image that includes a region depicting human skin; obtain a skin color value based on a sample; receive a skin parameter value that is a tan or a blush value; use the skin color value and the skin parameter value to determine an estimated ambient lighting condition of the image; and determine a color correction based on the estimated lighting condition and a target lighting condition. Another product can use the skin color value to determine an estimated color temperature of the image and an estimated tint shift of the image, and can determine a color correction based on the estimated lighting condition and a target lighting condition and the estimated tint shift. Another product can use the skin color value and the skin parameter value to determine an estimated camera color setting.

A first function of a local attribute is specified based on values of the local attribute in the image. A second function of the local attribute is specified based on an image adjustment depending upon an adjustment parameter. An object function value is calculated for each of two or more values of the adjustment parameter, each object function value including accumulated differences between the first and second function at multiple values of the local attribute. Based on the calculated object function values, a value of the adjustment parameter is determined for adjusting the image.

The second tone value specifies a local weight for a second tone adjustment in the image. The image is adjusted at the location using the first and second tone adjustments according to the local weights specified by the first and second tone values, respectively.

摘要： Apparatus and methods useful to automate the task of locating a photograph or other image that is embedded within a larger image. An edge curve is found that approximates the perimeter of the embedded image and from the edge curve the rectangle of the embedded image, or a rectangle covering the embedded image, is calculated by processing density profiles of the edge curve taken along two axes. Both location and orientation of an embedded image can be calculated. The location of the four corners of a rectangular embedded image can be calculated, which enables automatic cropping and rotation of the embedded image, even if fewer than all four corners are visible. A rectangle covering the image can be calculated, including a rectangle aligned with the axes of a larger embedding image such as is created when scanning a small photograph on a flatbed scanner. The invention operates well on rectangular images, as well as on images having polygonal and other border shapes, such as circles and ellipses, including images with irregular shapes.
