摘要: A method of aerating liquids, particularly for aerobic growing of microorganisms, has the steps of forming a circumferential stream of liquid, forming a longitudinal stream of liquid, and superimposing these streams so as to form a combined closed spiral-shaped stream. An arrangement is provided in which the circumferential stream is formed by an upright conduit tube and an impeller, the longitudinal stream is formed by a distributing element with a plurality of nozzles, and the superimposing of the streams is attained by fixedly mounting the distributing element relative to the impeller.

摘要: In a color TV tube employing a shadow mask (4), this mask is heated during operation of the tube, and expands, thus causing impact misregistry errors of the electron beams (5) on the phosphor layer (2) of the tube. These misregistry errors are corrected according to the invention with the aid of temperature-dependent accelerating or decelerating fields between the mask (4) and a metal layer (3) deposited on to the phosphor layer (2). Temperature dependance of the fields is obtained by inserting temperature-dependent (PTC and NTC) resistors between the mask and the metal layer.

摘要: Apparatus for the conversion of a stream of partly overlapping sheets into a row of fully overlapping sheets has a first conveyor which transports a growing row of sheets at right angles to the planes of the sheets, and a composite second conveyor which defines a downwardly extending path wherein successive sheets of the stream descend onto the first conveyor to accumulate between spaced-apart distancing elements of the first conveyor. Successive sheets of the stream are engaged and pushed forwardly on the first conveyor by an oscillating pusher which, when retracted, provides room for descent of a sheet onto the first conveyor behind the rearmost sheet of the growing row. The amplitude and/or frequency and/or the end positions of the pusher are adjustable to account for variations in thickness and/or stiffness of sheets in successive streams and/or for differences in friction between the sheets and the second conveyor.

摘要: Apparatus is provided for diverting groups of sheets to one or more processing machines which are adjacent to an elongated path defined by a transporting system consisting of a series of conveyors separated from each other by pivotable switches. Each processing machine can receive sheets from the transporting system in response to pivoting of the adjacent switch to a sheet-diverting position, and the switch which precedes such switch is pivotable to a position in which it diverts sheets onto an auxiliary conveyor which can be started to deliver sheets directly to the respective processing machine. The discharge end of the transporting system delivers surplus sheets to a stacker, and a switch which is located ahead of the foremost auxiliary conveyor can be caused to divert sheets into a row forming machine.

摘要: Apparatus for trimming the front, head and foot ends of brochures has a stationary platform which supports one brochure at a time. A first knife which trims the front end of the brochure on the platform descends in a vertical plane ahead of two additional knives which thereupon simultaneously trim the head and foot ends of the same brochure as soon as the first knife completes the trimming of the front end. The first knife is pivoted forwardly and away from the additional knives while the additional knives move toward and trim the brochure on the platform. This insures that the first knife is held out of the way while the additional knives move to positions in which their forward ends extend beyond the trimmed front end of the brochure.

摘要: In a fermentation employing microorganisms or enzymes the nutrient medium is mixed in the fermenter with a filter aid and the inoculum. After completion of the fermentation the fermentation broth is passed into a filter where it is directed through filtration elements whereby a filter cake is caused to deposit on the filtration means, which filter cake is composed of or includes the filter aid and all or a substantial part of the microorganisms or enzymes. The fermentation filtrate is then discharged while the passage of fermentation broth from the fermentor to the cake filter is suspended. A centrifugal motion is then imposed on the filter elements whereby the filter cake is loosened from the filter elements followed by recycling of the detached filter cake into the fermentor for reuse of the microorganisms or enzymes after resuming the fermentation.

摘要: A filter has a housing defining a closed chamber around a hollow shaft which is rotatable in the housing and which carries a plurality of filter elements so that fluid can be pumped through the filter elements into the hollow interior of the shaft. The shaft is rotatable with the filter elements relative to the housing for cleaning filter cake off the filter elements between filtering operations. An annular and hollow bellows-type seal surrounds the shaft and has one axial end secured to the housing and an opposite axial end engageable with the shaft for sealing the shaft relative to the housing. This bellows-type seal is made of thin and flexible stainless steel. The inside of the seal may be pressurized by a liquid or gas to force the end of the seal against the shaft and form a tight connection therebetween.

摘要: A pivot is mounted to extend parallel to a spout axis. A pair of arms are mounted at first ends thereof to swivel about the pivot and carry at second ends thereof holders which support pouring pipes. Each arm can be swiveled to a position beneath the spout and precisely centered with the spout by abutment devices. The holder and pouring pipe are then raised until the pouring pipe engages the spout.

摘要: A biochemical-action vessel accommodates a substrate in which biochemical reactions are caused by microorganisms. A heat-exchange arrangement is provided in the vessel and removes the heat generated in the substrate by such reactions. The substrate is circulated in the vessel advanced by an advancing arrangement in a closed path which passes through the heat-exchange arrangement. Aerating gaseous medium is introduced into the substrate upstream of the advancing arrangement and in the region of suction generated by the same, and entrained by the circulating substrate so as to supply the oxygen necessary for the aerobic growth of the microorganisms.
