摘要： An image formation apparatus provided according to the present invention does not generate any printing density streaks in low density areas of an image and is therefore capable of outputting stabilized images without any density unevennesses and density streaks in any tonality. The apparatus is structured so as to correct density signals in accordance with a correction table 1 for indicating the recording characteristics of each of the recording elements of the head and the recording characteristics indicated by this correction table 1, and to drive the recording head in accordance with a correction table 2, which does not allow the fore-going corrections to be made when the density signals are lower than a given density, and the density signals corrected by this correction table 2.

Alternatively, the recording head can be driven by comparing identification information read out from a second memory with recording head identification information stored in a first memory, and selectively driving the recording head using second shading correction data read out from the second memory or first shading correction data read out from the first memory, depending upon whether two types of recording head identification information are equal.

摘要： A recovery method for recovering proper operation of an ink jet recording head having a plurality of discharge ports and a plurality of thermal energy generating elements each corresponding to each of the discharge ports includes providing a recovery device for performing recovery according to a first recovery mode for only applying pressure to the discharge ports to effect suction of ink from the discharge ports while the discharge ports are capped by a capping device, and a second recovery mode for concurrently applying pressure to the discharge ports and driving the thermal energy generating elements to forcibly exhaust ink from the discharge ports while the discharge ports are capped by the capping means. The method also includes selectively performing recovery according to one of the first recovery mode and the second recovery mode.

摘要： An ink-jet recording apparatus and an ink-jet recording method which provide an image featuring reduced graininess and good gradation. A plurality of inks of different densities are used to obtain a halftone image with controlled graininess. An ink which has low penetrability on a recording medium and which controls the diffusion of dots is used as an ink with a relatively high density. An ink which has high penetrability and which permits easy diffusion of dots is used as an ink with a relatively low density. The present invention also provides a characteristic recorded article to be formed by a plurality of dots having different penetrabilities on a recording medium. Among a plurality of inks with different densities, the inks of the same color category are grouped and held in an ink container and are divided in the container by the ink density. This configuration makes it possible to make the containers smaller and minimize the number of containers.
