There is a conventional implementation at each individual station of the plurality of display stations for querying as to whether a selected other display station operated by a user in the group is activated. However, in response to such a status query there are provided means at each individual user operated display station for making a selected status response personalized to the identified display station. There are means at each individual station of the plurality of display stations for displaying the stored list of authorized other identified display stations and the status of each of the other identified user operated display stations including any instant message relative to such status. There also may be provided at each individual user operated station in the plurality of display stations an implementation for displaying the stored list of authorized other identified display stations, including any personalized status response sent from the individual station to any of said other identified display stations.

摘要： A computer controlled interactive display RFID (radio frequency identification) household system enabling a householder to track and manage a set of RFID tags containing household possessions located within short range RF limited boundaries of a household facility. The implementation includes the combination of a short range RF transceiver for identifying and communicating with all RFID tags within the household boundaries and apparatus for inputting data indicating whether a RFID tag within said household boundaries is in one of the set of household possessions. In such an environment, there also is an implement for inputting this tracking and management data, as well as for storing this input data. There is also provided a function for prompting said householder in response to the entry within said household boundaries of a RFID tag not in one of the set of household possessions. As will be described hereinafter in greater detail, such prompts help the householder to facilitate the tracking of new products that have been purchased without the need of the householder to periodically take time to enter newly acquired household possessions.

摘要： A system, method, and related computer program for visually displaying the contents of a USB storage device, wherein a USB storage device is inserted into a computer controlled instrument and a special storage area in the storage portion of the computer controlled instrument holds low resolution bitmaps of stored images. These low resolution bitmaps contain such data as directory listings, which can be displayed on an LCD without the inconvenience or difficulty of the current method of displaying such information. Low resolution images with stored files as bitmaps are automatically updated. The present invention functions via a small LCD screen and its controller, which is added to the USB storage key and allows for the display of the contents stored on the USB storage key. The present invention allows a user access to the listing of the contents stored on a USB storage key without having to plug in the USB storage key into a computer controlled instrument.

Thus, the search for the optimum individual components must continuously be reconciled to determine whether such components come within the overall computer system umbrella defined by user or purchaser input.

摘要： An apparatus and method for providing selective views of on-line surveys are provided. With the apparatus and method, each survey has a survey data structure and a template data structure. In a preferred embodiment, the data structures represent tree structures having nodes, child nodes, links between nodes and child nodes, and the like, for the survey and the template. Changes to the survey are made in the template data structure. The survey data structure and the template data structure are compared to one another, and nodes are either added, subtracted, or modified based on the differences between the survey data structure and the template data structure. In this way, the survey data structure retains the information that is already in present in it, such as the questions and answers previously provided. Thereafter, when the survey is again presented to a user, the user's previous answers to questions still remaining in the survey are displayed but no answers are displayed for newly added questions. In addition, if the questions are modified, the modified questions are presented with no answers displayed until provided by the user. In this way, answer data for questions that were previously answered and are still remaining in the survey after modification are not lost. In addition, the survey data itself is not corrupted by the modification of the survey.

摘要： An apparatus, system and method for booting a data processing system from a removable medium is provided. With the apparatus, system and method, a boot sequence is started to a point at which a file system is available. At that time, driver files and registry information is copied from the data processing system to the removable medium. The boot sequence is then restarted using the driver files and registry information copied. In this way, a removable medium, having application data and user defined setting information, may be used to customize a plurality of different data processing systems while still providing the user access to the particular data processing system configuration and peripheral devices of the data processing system. Thus, the user's customized settings provide a system interface that is familiar to the user while being able to make use of different hardware devices.
